"Ogres are not like cakes!"

Yeah, I just saw Shrek (for the first time) yesterday. I rented it along with some source I needed for a video. It was funny, but I found the (over)use of popular songs a little annoying.
I redid the video mentioned in the previous entry. It'll be at AWA. The R2 DVD is shockingly better than the R1.
I had an idea for a new VirtualDub filter that would save me some time, but I don't know when I'll be able to work on it. Maybe after AWA, since I have to work on the panel intro video. I also had an idea for a rather odd video, but who knows when/if that'll get done.
(heheh Greyduck got the reference in the prev entry ;)
Castor Troy:
"I never knew video game footage's interlacing was worse than anime interlacing..."
If you're talking about in-game footage, it makes sense, since if the game renders at 60 frames per second, half of each frame is thrown out since the display can only show 60 fields per second.
"maybe some stuff from Panyo Panyo to complete the video"
You've seen Panyo Panyo, right?

The art style is very different. It would clash, unless you want it to clash for some reason.

In memoriam

I was reading an obituary for Edsger Dijkstra
http://www.cs.utexas.edu/users/UTCS/notices/dijkstra/ewdobit.html
and had to laugh at this part:
"He and his wife had a fondness for exploring state and national parks in their Volkswagen bus, dubbed the Touring Machine, in which he wrote many technical papers."
(I wonder how many people will get that... ;)
I had an idea for a new short video last week and put it together, but I'm going to redo it since I've got better source now. (fortunately it's relatively short) I guess maybe I'll enter it in Masters, since it's, y'know, new and stuff.
If you've been to Will (Aluminum)'s page recently, you'll see that we have an AWA VAT block together. So we're trying to put together an intro video for that.
Zany! Zany!

For those that don't read AbsoluteDestiny's journal, here's the picture I was referring to in the last entry:

And the new version: :)

Here's a pic he gave me in return: (Thanks! ^_^)

I find it neat when I find a webboard or page linking to mine that's written in another language. I know a lot of people are multilingual, but still... Offhand I can think of French, German, Spanish, Japanese and Polish. The next one is new to me... I think it's Hebrew, based on the ".il", "rtl", and "windows-1255" in the HTML. Anyone know Hebrew? (URL split up because I don't want the table to go all wide)

UncleMilo: You need to play some Grand Theft Auto 3. :)
EK: We can find a park to do it in, so it can be Lynchin' Park.
Okay, I guess I'll be lynched after you now...
AD: I thought of a change to that pic, but it'll have to wait until after I get home. :) To do that pic, I went to www.absolut.com to look for a "clean" pic to use. Amusing site, but not when I want to find a picture quickly... too much Flash. I ended up using this one. (one of my favourites on this site)

I should've found a better font to use, but I don't have a good selection.
That post with Adult Swim news in the forum is depressing... We don't normally get Cartoon Network in Canada, but I get it via satellite. After about a decade now, it's started to damage the roof, so it's coming down in a few weeks. I didn't actually watch the anime on there... not because I'm rabidly anti-dub, but because I get enough of it elsewhere. I'll miss stuff like Sealab 2021 though. That also means one less source of stuff to parody, like the eyecatch I made for Otakon.
Max Headroom wrapped up this weekend on TechTV. I think I've seen all of the episodes now except one that taped while I was at Anime North. It was a short-lived show... 14 episodes. I thought the opening music changed halfway through, but it was the same opening during the TechTV run. The music at the end changed (I like the second song they used), but networks being what they are today, the closing was folded, spindled, and mutilated.
I was clothes shopping yesterday, and saw a sweater with what I suspect was <CPF's BAD>BULLSHIT KANJI!!!</CPF's BAD> I haven't had time to look it up yet.

I saw Lilo and Stitch and Minority Report tonight. Yeah, two in one day but I hadn't gone in a while. I wanted to see the Powerpuff Girls movie last week, but it was only in one inconveniently located theatre... now it's gone. (That was an annoyingly short run... three weeks???) I stopped watching (non-Pixar) animated Disney movies around the time of The Lion King... After seeing Emperor's New Groove (yay Kronk!) and now L&S, it's nice to see some non-musical stuff from them. (and after I mentioned animated musicals in Right Now, too... oh well, I'm sure they'll have plenty of those still)
The "targeted advertising" in Minority Report reminded me of this article, and lo and behold is has a reference to MR I'd forgotten.

These are pretty funny, particularly when you take them out of context and apply them to anime... (don't read the one from the 26th :)
