  • "Yo, this one goes out to the lightweights sleepin' in the basements." 2002-06-23 04:27:28 We started showing Hikaru no Go at anime club today. I couldn't help making some snide comments afterwards in Notepad on the projector. ;)
If you haven't seen it, it's a show featuring the board game Go.

"Where can I find 'Hikaru no Monopoly' or 'Hikaru no Twister'?"
"Thank you, Studio Pierrot, for allowing me to enjoy Go once again."
"How about 'Hajime no Go', where losers have to beat each other up?"
(we're also showing 'Hajime no Ippo', a show featuring boxing)
"Go Go Revolution! Show me your stones!"

Yeah, I'll give the show a chance, but it is an odd thing to centre around.
  • Infinite Run! 2002-06-19 23:03:33 (more GTA3 stuff. skip if you wanna)

Below I mentioned that I could barely get to level 4 of the Paramedic missions. (You need to complete level 12 to receive Infinite Run) I completed level 12 today. I modified the handling config file to give the Ambulance the speed and handling of a Cheetah (sports car), and the durability of a Rhino. (tank) :) (another reason I got the PC version instead of the PS2 version :) Yeah, it's cheatin', but that stupid Ambulance is so rolly/bouncy/fragile, there was no way I could save 78 people in a row. (in order to complete level 12)

After I get a tank (there's a cheat code to get one right away, but I think I'll play through the game to get it), I wanna try and give it the speed/acceleration of a Cheetah or Infernus. :)
  • hey... 2002-06-19 00:57:37 Jay: Congratulations on completing your test. :)

    "Take me to Pizza Hut!"
  • ohya 2002-06-18 02:50:00 To get the Securicar for the garage, I just happened to find one driving around in Portland. That was cool. :) (it's rare, the FAQ says)

One funny thing that happened... I jacked a car from the passenger side once. I wasn't paying attention to the driver side, but when I looked, it turned out that someone else was stealing the car! I took the car from a carjacker half a second after he took it. O_o
  • stuffs 2002-06-18 02:36:38 A protection scheme I forgot about...
Long ago, I pirated King's Quest III for the Amiga. (shhh!) I had a printout of the spellbook. To cast a spell, you had to type in a small paragraph from the book. I could never cast this one spell I needed, so I set the game aside. One day, the word "soporific" was used in an English class. I went home and saw that the word "soponific" in the printout was a typo. (I didn't know what it meant, didn't bother to look it up, and didn't think it was a typo) I cast the spell and went on to finish the game. :)

Speaking of Sierra, I bought the Space Quest anthology a few years ago, and played through I-III again. They were fun, but IV reminded me what I didn't like about it.
    - Bad art (I-III had good art, given what they had to work with. IV did not)
    - Awful dithering (brown and orange??? O_o)
    - The game would crash (bleah)

I have a copy of Sam and Max Hit the Road here I should play someday... I couldn't get the sound working, but I hear that VDMSound might make it work.

    GTA3 update: (heh)
As mentioned, I've been doing all the side stuff first before the gangs start to hate me as part of the story. So before doing any story missions (except the ones needed to start the game), I've:
    - Got all the hidden packages for the first island (those available without unlocking second island)
    - Done all the unique jumps FTFI
    - Finished rampages FTFI
    - Got pistol, uzi, grenades, two police bribes, and health at hideout
    - Got Borgnine taxi
    - Got about $600,000
    - Got everything for the import/export garage except Dodo. (on third island)

Apparently if you complete Paramedic Mission Level 12 you get Infinite Run, but I can barely get to 4. :(
