I can hear the Bard
2002-04-10 15:45:20
I would like to make an appeal to all the music video mixers, creators, teams, studios, judges, and friends. People who know me know i tend to be a story teller. well, now i'm asking you a favour.
Please tell me, at length or in breivity, the first anime show that hooked you. This is not necessarily the 'first' anime-type show you watched, but rather, the first one that made you go 'woah' and decide to be a fan of this medium. Something that made you want more. Wether it was amusement or laughter, excitement and amazement, shock or intrigue, or any other reason that caught your attention. I want to hear your story, if you feel like telling it. It can be as short or as long and descriptive as you like.
Some of the points I'd like to hear about would be where and when you saw the "magic one" as i'm gonna call it. Like, what else were you interested in at the time, or what was going on around you, family, friends, etc.
Please email me your stories at your leisure at this email address, collidingsymphonies@juno.com

Strike another blow on decency

{{{{{(CNN) -- "Cheating is a shortcut and it's a pretty efficient one in a lot of cases."
"What's important is getting ahead," says Newhall. "The better grades you have, the better school you get into, the better you're going to do in life. And if you learn to cut corners to do that, you're going to be saving yourself time and energy. In the real world, that's what's going to be going on. The better you do, that's what shows. It's not how moral you were in getting there."}}}}}}
Kanchou says. . .
>>The problem with this outlook is she's right, and many people simply aren't emotionally or mentall mature enough to accept that their world is becomeing a place of dishonesty. Look what happened in Kansas highschool in my earlier journal. Not only are people turning a blind eye to the fact that this is true, they're also choosing to be ignorant to the fact that -they- contribute to it.
How many schools and institutions screen people based on numbers from tests and nothing else? How many colleges will take the good word of a teacher as evidence of a child's worthiness to be taught? Not too many places have a sense of character developement anymore, and people use the easy way out by saying 'well how do you measure someone's character?'
GRE, ACT, SAT, just a handful of acedemic stuff. What about anything else? Personal equity, credit rating, yearly gross, years in job position. How many times have you been told you don't have good enough credit rating to deserve a good interest rate? How many places look at these figures first, and nothing else second?
If we blame students, then we must blame the teachers. Not the ones with the textbooks, but the ones running the world. Those are teachers too, teaching this type of behavior by example of how the 'real world' runs.
The only exception i can think of off the top of my head is military schools. How many of them do you think would put up with any kind of cheating? Would they listen to obstinant parents argueing their kid is being sent back a year because he didn't learn the value of honesty and honor? How many kids in those academies would have parents who would do something stupid like that? Dont get me wrong, the military has its own set of problems aside from that.
