Five years in the amv community.....wow that was quick
2005-06-10 12:19:02
It just dawned on me that for five years I've been in this game. Wow, how did that happen? In five years I've watched kids who started out, grow up and become great. I've watched the evolution of so many video creators and I've seen this medium really become something special.
I haven't won many awards in this field. Mainly, I was interested. I only set out to win two really and I got them both. That was enough for me. Now I just make videos for other's people's enjoyment and my own.
Will we ever be recognized by the mainstream someday? I hope so. I mean, there are conventions, cons and whatnot to honor the achievements of so many but mainstream recogniton - now that would be something.
My hopes for the future? I hope that people can be more tolerate and understanding of others. I hope that people can offer constructive criticism and not just tear someone down simply because a video that they've seen may suck. The way to help someone is to say. "Yeah, it sucks but here's why and here's how you can improve it." You never know what a little encouragement can do to a person.
Most of all, I am most proud of two vid creators in my studio. Five years ago, I met Katsumoto420, aka, my pal, Jonny. He was such a brash kid who asked me to marry him almost everyday. LOL. It was so funny. Five years later, he's still in our studio and produced a video that is just totally amazing in every regard. I can't begin to express how much pride I feel over Jonny's achievement. Its truly a heartstopping video. For Jonny I can see how much he's grown as a vid creator.
The other kid I met five years ago was Zeroscythe. He made great videos when he was a kid and now, all grown up he's even better. Zero has really impressed me and now he's on a roll wanting to do each vid better and better.
For six months I've been on leave of absence from J&P due to my mother's illness. I realized in that short time not to sweat the small stuff and be proud for everything I've ever done and everything that the people I work with do.
While I was gone, Rich, aka Eon Blue Apocalypse, ran the show for me. He did a great job.
Yoko aka Logan did a great job pouring his efforts into Sakura Zuka and making that studio what Pac and me envisioned a year ago. Logan is truly a force to be reckoned with and his dynamic personality and style will only propel him further in life.
What this babbling and sentiment all comes down to is, I am proud to have these people in my studio but more importantly, I am proud to have them as my friends. I've watched a small operation with just Pac and myself evolve to over sixteen members total, worldwide fan recogntion and to me, its more like a family. A dysfunctional family. LOL. However, a great family all the same.
On another note, I miss my friend Kaji the Critic. I wish he'd come back soon. He's my pal. I miss him a lot.

Insomnia Sucks
2005-06-09 04:19:36
Insomnia sucks. It really does. Why can't I sleep? Its 4:17am. Oh let's see, for the past three days I've been on the 11-7am shift at the hospital. What a killer! Literally. Not because you see a lot of action but BECAUSE ITS SO FUCKING BORING. There is absolutely nothing to do, you wander around and look around, talk to people and then that's it. You can go outside to smoke a cigarette and then go back inside to sit and do nothing! Why was I working on the 11-7 shift? Its called mandatory work requirement....ergo, I had to do it. I didn't really care it was easy overtime.
Except one thing.
Sneaky J got on the internet and watched videos.
Hey, do you think my employer knows that I got paid to watch videos? Do you think I care?
Hey, I didn't ask to be there. You mandate me, let me watch my amv's.
Booyah!

What is the meaning of a Noob?
2005-06-09 03:40:29
Here's a question to ponder. What is truly the meaning of a noob? Is it a new person in a new community? No. Because thats just one other person who moves in. So, what exactly is a noob? I have a theory.
Noob (newb)noun.Definition: Prententious, uptight, snoobish, conceited, rude, arrogant, narcussistic, ego maniac who thinks that the have the begin all and end all comments when it comes to vids except THEY HAVE NEVER MADE A VIDEO EVER.
Noobs should do this.
STFU
Noobs who want to be vid creators should listen, observe, practice and implemnent. They should consult other vid creators who have had much success. Also, noobs need to be careful about what they say because people in glass houses should not throw stones.
If a noob says you suck, guess what then they are just stating a simple fact which means that they themselves suck worse then you do and are just jealous of who you are for whatever reason.
Does a noob ever have a chance to be more?
Of course.
What should they do?
Easy. Listen, learn, gain experience and then watch the results for themselves.

Reflections on Super Vid
2004-12-12 00:25:03
Super Vid was something that I've wanted to do for so long. Working on this project has actually been a dream come true. A small dream but a dream none the less. I've always wanted to work with my good friend and rival Krillin the Vilin for quite some time. Krillin and me haven't always seen eye to eye. In fact, we've fought each other quite frequently over the years. One thing though that I cannot deny is that he is an amazing vid creator and I am in awe of what he creates. It is for this reason, I am proud to call him my friend. We both share information with each other about what we've learned, we share opinions with each other and talk quite frequently. True, we argue like cats and dogs sometimes but I think thats what makes our friendship great. That I can argue with this person and then have him call me to say "whats up, How you been?" the following day.
To see Super Vid finally become a reality is more then just working on a project. Its the culmination of everyone's talent to produce something totally unique and fun. Super Vid has taken nine months to bring to life. Its taken all of our blood, sweat and tears. It was almost cancelled twice but we really wanted this project to come together. We've had laughs over the testers that went back and forth and we've been near the point of where we wanted to hurl our computers into the wall.
All in all as the premiere date approaches and I look at this video, I am very proud of it. I took part in something that really meant a lot to me. Because not only did I get to work with Krillin but also Yoko Seishirou, who has been of sorts, not just my friend, but a student of mine and Krillin's. We've basically watched this boy mature over the past three years and to see what he's become is really quite amazing. Its also the fact that I got to work with Dark Piccolo420 who holds an enormus amount of meaning to me far more then any person I've ever known before in my life. He has unleashed within me a whole slew of creative ideas that just keep flowing and for that I am grateful. He has also captured my heart. Its also the fact that we got to work with Bart420 who we always knew would be a dynamic producer and seeing him now, with www.anime-werd.org and the irc.rizon.net channel, I am very proud of him.
By placing Super Vid under the name of AMVs-R-US we are showing that this project was not about seperate studios taking the credit, instead, it was a team effort - a team I happily belong to.
We came to animemusicvideos.org from the Winmx/Kazaa channels and we saw videos that were just amazing and it made us grateful to be a part of this community. We may not be the best video creators in the world and we may not always have videos that you think are the A+ list but one thing I can tell you, is that we're a family. We've always been and we always will be. We stick together no matter what. When one person is down, we support each other. When one studio is bashed, the other comes to the rescue. We're forty people strong and we are proud of each other's accomplishments and feel joy when one of us tops the other.
Super Vid I think embodies that. Even if you say to us in a week or two, "THIS VID SUCKS" or "This vid is amazing." We'll still say thank you to both responses. I am so excited about this project. Its an idea I've wanted to accomplish for quite some time and now to see it bought forth is indeed a dream come true.

New vid, new direction, new place.....whoa! Choas!
2004-09-23 10:35:45
That pretty much sums it up. While J&P is in full swing with the launch of 2.0 and little by little the site is becoming what we originally envisioned a year ago, there is so much going on, its hard to plant my feet firmly down on the ground. Yet, when so much is going on, that's what I do best, keep it together. Three new members added to J&P including the return of Yoko which I have to say I am very pleased about and a surprise...I never thought Nandez would join J&P but I am glad nonetheless. I am saddened that I cannot atttend AWA due to my work schedule but hey there's always ICON 24 in the spring featured here right on my native Long Island. Also, yes I bought a new place for myself. Bigger then what I now and a shorter commute to work, five minutes, thats better then the 20 minutes it usually takes.
Finished the new vid and now reviewing for errors and whatnot. I did it on an anime that I just love on the suggestion from Yoko which is X. I guess I have become a X-Phile. lol. Thank goodness for my Netflix membership. It was a risky vid to do but all in all, I am pleased with it. Having Yoko as the Supervising Producer also helped greatly since he was the one who helped me drive the focus of the vid and supplied supplemental material that I didn't have.
All in all I am pleased. Chaos sometimes equals balance. :D
