JOURNAL: TwilightChrono (Aaron Breault)

  • @Pwolf 2013-05-11 04:12:01 We could continue this debate all day. And still be in the same location. If they are just a code of ethics and not rules, then why post them as rules in the first place? They obviously don't belong there if that's the case.

Hell, I'll take down all the videos I put up using downloaded episodes just to prove my point. (And there isn't that many) And since the Quickening is a ORG HOSTED EVENT, it should follow ORG RULES AND GUIDELINES. At least the videos I entered WEREN'T of downloaded material. In competitions that I enter, I never submit stuff I made using downloaded material. I only use stuff I own for competitions.

What kinda competition doesn't follow the rules of the site that it's hosted on. Seems sketchy.

It's that simple. Perhaps some other guidelines should have been put into place for the signups this year so that people who wouldn't be able to sign up right away could still have time to enter the competition without being put into the "Non-competing overflow" This is why I didn't understand the no reservations bit. Doesn't seem a lot of thought was put into the sign-ups portion of the competition.

It seems I take a lot of flack because I speak my mind. Whether or not it sounds like total rubbish, I've never once flamed or called anyone in particular out in anything I've ever posted. So, say and think what you want about me. If me speaking my mind makes me a bad person, then so be it. I'm a bad person.

And that whole rule about "if you wouldn't say it to a person's face, then don't say it on the internet" really doesn't affect me at all. Because the same stuff I've said on these forums, I say to people's faces. But since the whole world has become so hyper sensitive to the littlest of things I suppose I should calm my mouth. Cause it seems anything I say it seems like I'm mad, or I'm pissy, or I'm acting like a kid or I'm an asshole. No. I'm saying what's on my mind and what I think of the current situations that arise.. Period. I'm not scared to say these same things to someones face. If someone has a problem with me, I would hope they would say it to mine. Cause if you got something to say to somebody, it should be said to their face, not behind their back. It's the way I was taught and raised.

I'm a very outspoken person. Everyone who knows me on the org should know that about me by now. I've been a very active member here for how many years now? You act like me speaking out is some sort of surprise or a shock.

Anywho, I'm done. I don't wanna be banned from the site. Even though I've done nothing wrong.
  • Also 2013-05-11 01:39:55 That particular video which you passed, broke the rules of the org as well.

•Thou shalt not use downloaded video footage, music, or pirated software to make AMVs

That's another example of what I mean by the judges not paying attention to the entries. Watermarks and subtitles? Clear violation of the above rule.
  • @Pwolf 2013-05-11 01:36:16 Have you seen the show? If not how do you know it's not? I've seen it. A lot of those scenes run back to back of each other.

Anywho, link it to me in PM. I don't remember what the AMV is called. This is something we should discuss in journal anyway.

Also, careful Pwolf. Sounds like you were calling me lazy towards the end. Be careful. Yue might send you an official warning to try and suspend you like I got a couple minutes back. I know you were referring to my editing but be careful and phrase your words better.
  • A Little Bit More 2013-05-10 23:34:01 I also still have the PM's form Yue regarding the matter. I can quote those if you wish.
  • @Pwolf 2013-05-10 23:24:18 I made no mention of effects in my post so I'm not even sure as to why that was brought up.

Me saying the judging was unfair was because part of the criteria for judging last year was that videos that showed to have long run-on scenes barely cut with little to no effort would be ignored and disqualified. And the video I lost out to was that exact type of video. It was basically one long fight scene with a couple cuts here and there. but the majority of the video was one long run on scene with barely anything being able to be made out because of encoding.

So, when you look at it in that light, of course I feel I was wronged. I honestly think rules for the contests should include No Subtitles logo's or watermarks. It should be a gimme in any contest. It is at cons. All it does to omit that rule is gives people the ok to use pirated material. Drag and rop and hope for the best. That's not editing. That's lazy and wrong.

I'm not saying anyone of don't use downloaded episodes but if you are going to use downloaded episodes at least learn to encode and remove them. Whether it's to allow all skill lvl's or not, it doesn't justify being lazy with your cropping or just very lazy with your video all together. The video that knocked me out was the epitamy of lazy and broke the majority of the judging criteria rules but for some reason was still allowed to pass and move to the next round.

Not to mention that person didn't even edit for the following round. If he dropped then I don't understand why someone else wasn't brought in to take his place so as to not make my elimination the previous round such a damned waste.

I'm not saying the guy was a bad editor, just saying a video that broke the rules from a judging standard was allowed to go onto the next round. That's all I'm saying.

So, yes. I do call the judging criteria into question. Especially when Yue had to apologize to me about it. Yue told me she would do something about it for the rules in the next quickening but I don't see a change in the rules about it at all. Not to mention she also said she would talk to the judges about future videos of the sort. But again, I don't know if that has been done or not. Even Yue admitted it was wrong and I shouldn't have been disqualified but I bet that piece of information was kept from you.

Anywho, that's in the past. I'll give it my all for the non-competing. I won't be as motivated but I'll still do my best.

Just some insight for you Pwolf.
