100% clips... 90% done... editing that is....
2004-04-05 18:48:02
heheh, gotta love it how you can have every clip at just the right place and when you make the .avi file you notice that premier likes to mess with a few of them so that they are off track. Gotta love how every time you fix it again it goes back and messes it up again.... Don't you just LOVE premier? how it just loves to hate on you....
But, out of it came a clip I felt actuall fit that scene better anyway, so I'm happy.
That's right, I have the whole video done. All the scenes where I like them. But the editing is only 90% complete. I still have issues with some timing at a certain point in the video and I found out that I actually reused a clip that I didn't think I had (gotta love going back to work that was finished 2 months ago to find you forgot what you put in there). So I gotta find another clip to fit that scene well enough... which wont be hard, but I might have to do some more moving arround of items in order to get that scene to work.....
It just takes time...
Thankfully it appears that I will have enough time to get the video done before the ACEN due date. This makes me happy.
Now all I have to do is finish this workings, do some effect editing. Cut out some garbadge at certain places in my clips (gotta love capture errors) and then Premier it to the club next Tuesday! Then finally I can get some opinions on whether this video should be drama or action. Cuz' I really don't know right now....
Wish me luck!

For the love of god....
2004-03-28 18:57:13
yeah..... it'd be nice if premier's time acceleration feature worked better. I mean, I could only speed up the clip to 1000 times... which made the length of the clip (which was the whole armitage movie) only 52 seconds. But here was my problem... I needed it to fit in 10 seconds of space....
Grrrr......
I spent 4 hours going through the clip frame by frame to figure out what to take out and what to leave it. It was difficult to figure out which frames showed footage that was unneded to get the effect of watching the whole film in 10 seconds. But I also wanted it to be so that there wouldn't be more then just 1 frame to a picture, so that it didn't feel like the speed up was going too slow. I've still got work to do apparently, since there appears to be 2 times in the clip where the frame seems to hang, so I need to go back in a do a little editing. Which is good, cuz' after figuring out that the clip no longer fits in the 10 second slot (it's bigger then the space since I cut out more unneded music at the end of the song) I really need to fix that...
I still have to figure out how to make it look as if armitage is smoking a cigarette. I mean, the only person in the whole film that smokes is EDDY! The drinking isn't going to be hard, since there's a scene in a bar... that's gonna be the toughest clip to work out, and it's only about a 2 sec clip!!!!
I really hope people like this video.

The light at the end of the tunnel
2004-03-22 18:50:54
I can see it... barely....
Of course, that is, I can see the light arround this giant brick wall that stands in the way! Arg.... I forgot how hard it really was to make an AMV that actually required a lot of work with as little footage as I have to work with. The last min of the AMV is going to be the hardest... and I'm already having trouble with the min before that!
It's so difficult trying to stay true to my origional idea so late in the game... I mean, I know I still have a month and a half to work on it before the deadline... but I really want to be done with this long before finals.
I suppose it's really a problem with motivation. I mean, I was REALLY motivated at the beginning of the project, I could see every millisecond of the video.... but now I'm at the home stretch and my vision is getting blury. I need to get arround this wall... but I'm loosing my strength to do so...
How can I get my enthusiam back? Watch the movie again? Listen to the song some more? Let the video sit for a while then come back? (well, I've done that for 2 1/2 weeks now)
I'm hopping and working toward getting this video done in time for ACEN.
If only I truely knew what category this video should be...

Is it grace? Or just plain luck?
2004-02-23 17:54:55
Honestly. I've never really come across something like this while editing. I place a clip right where I want it, lining a certain spot up with the words just how I want it to be lined up. Then all of a sudden as I preview my work I notice that the clip now lines up PERFECTLY with the music as well!! There are two beats in the music during that clip, and the video clip itself flashes at those points! I did absolutly no editing what so ever to that clip to make it do that rather then just lining up the end of the clip to the words. Grant it, I would have gone back and edited the clip to do just that, but the fact that I didn't and it still lined up kind of bother's me. I mean, is this luck in it's purest form? Or is this like some kind of editing grace that has befallen me for taking on such an abitious project as my Armitage video? I mean, I'm greatfull it's happened, but man, I never thought I would get SOO lucky!!!
Well, it really doesn't matter. It happened and I like it. So there isn't going to be any changes.
All I can say is DOMO ARIGATO GOZAI DE MASU! (I think that's how it's said...)

ACEN is comming up!
2004-02-11 14:44:42
I hope I'll be finished with my video in time for ACEN this year.
I've already spent 17 hours of my life on this video. And I still have another 4 mins or so to work on.
I think I really have a chance of winning, or at least getting nominated this year.
I can't wait!!!
