    If I didn't then everytime I rewatched the video I'd get mad at myself.

  • Orphan 2012-06-24 17:07:00 After about 308448975 re-renders, adding credits, adjusting tiny things here and there, encoding about 49875857 times, finally I have a perfect copy of the AMV ready to upload. In fact I just uploaded a test to youtube which looked fine. So I rewatched my copy again there to check the soft subtitles made sense and guess what I found?

    A GODDAMN ORPHAN FRAME.

    WHY?!

    WHAT ARE YOU DOING THERE YOU STUPID ORPHAN FRAME?! WHY WERE YOU NOT MORE NOTICEABLE BEFOREHAND?!

    Screw this, I can't even patch fix it because the lossless clips are already deleted and the only thing I have left is the final render. Technically I could reconvert the footage and make that tiny little fix but I have 3 different versions of this video and making that one tiny change would mean rendering another 3 different copies and encoding them all again.

    I am so livid.

    At myself.

    I have seriously rendered and encoded this shit so many times that if I have to do it again then I might actually go mad.

    ARGH.

    You know what. I'm going to pretend I didn't see that frame.
     
  • Betas 2012-06-22 22:58:00 So I started running low on HDD space. Which meant it was time to open WinDirStat and find out where all the crap was stored.

    After a quick scan, it told me I had 81GB worth of stuff in my Downloads folder and looking closely at the tree, 31GB was taken up by "Files". The largest starts at 4GB, and the second starts at...509MB?!?!

    So that meant about 27GB were made up of files smaller than 509MB in size. What? How? Why?!

    And then I decided, all video files that had "preview" or "beta" in the name were going in the bin. Same with the ones with unreadable or titles that made no sense. (If you were releasing a complete AMV I would assume one had the sense to name it properly)

    Emptying the recycle bin told me I had 14.9GB worth of betas/previews/random nonsense.

    14.9GB.

    And yes I emptied the recycle bin before this video deleting session.

    This is also not including betas and other random stuff I might have saved elsewhere on the computer. (I suspect part of the 8GB in the AMVs folder might belong in this category)

    I seriously don't know how I managed to rack up so much on a laptop I've only had for a year and a half. >__>

    Next task is to find out what's taking up the other 13GB.....I bet it'll be made up of 48759487320430 small non-video files. The joys.
     
  • Debate 2012-06-20 21:38:24 I just spent 35 minutes debating on whether a crossfade or a hardcut would look better for this ONE transition in this AMV. I kid you not.

    Plus I bet you 90% of the people who view this video in the end won't even care. Or notice, whichever I end up using.

    Here it was supposed to be some nice 10-15 minutes worth of simple touch ups on about 3 sections of the AMV before I could render out the final. I've now spent almost 2 hours on making these changes and the time will keep going as long as I can't decide. I just want this AMV finished already! >__<

    BUT NO. CROSSFADE OR HARDCUT? STILL CAN'T DECIDE. DAMN. GO TO HELL PICKY BRAIN.
