When I started doing them, I had no idea of what they could be. My intentions were to have fun, to try something new. And, these are still my targets.
I have my own personal ideas about which kind of AMVs are good. First of all, a good AMV should tell a story. I've tried different things with my vids and I can say that there's nothing better than a storyteller-AMV, 'cause firstly it's not simple to find a song that you like and that also fits good for what you want your AMV to be. Secondly, you have to pay attention to which scenes you are going to show, to create the good atmosphere suggested by the song and so by the theme you're planning. All of this needs a big effort and a lot of time. Then, let me talk about special effects. They are a good thing, but it's better don't get abuse of them. On the contrary, you risk to have a really messy AMV, where you don't understand a thing and your brain goes to sleep very soon. The web it's full of AMV with huge special effects, technically perfect, but with no ideas, no story and at the end no purpose. I don't like self-skills-shows...
If you can do an AMV with a clear and well developed concept, which is also well directed and with good special effects, probably you are a god...and you get a 5 stars vote from me. This doesn't mean that I consider all the other stuff rubbish. I only say that "perfection" has to be perfect!
An AMV has not to be a mass-consume product. Has not to be good only to watch. These are my guidelines for what I'm trying to do. Hope you like my works!
See you, Space Cowboys!
