[average 119.3 of 231941 opinions; standard deviation 432 ] - Profile: I've just started my freshman year at Messiah College, and I was fortunate enough to get into Programming I. Hopefully, my JavaScript education will also aid me in FINALLY getting to work on the Adventure/RPG game that I've been planning to make for the past 4 years of my life: Solion. And I just might use the magic of Flash animation to bring the Weirdos to life -- that's a comic strip I've been working on, on and off (extremely), for at least 10 years now.
So what do I do? Well, I like to draw. I let that talent dwindle for a little while, but in 7th or 8th grade, when I decided I wanted to make a game (Solion, as mentioned above), I had to pick it up again. I'm still not good at... actually FINISHING drawings, but y'know. I did do that Ein vs. Scooby Doo up there. >:D
I also like composing music -- digitally (MIDI). I can't play any instruments, let alone a keyboard (although I do sometimes use the keyboard for inspiration). Once again, this talent was uncovered because Solion had to have music. I never knew I could write music... and suddenly I could.
And I like quite a few animes. And editing stuff. And so anime music videos somehow sprung from that. I often enjoy seeing things set to music, like when the TV is muted or something, so it stems from some innate desire, I guess.
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine is the greatest TV show ever. And SO much better than Voyager. Enterprise looks like a good contestant, though. Cowboy Bebop also rocks, and despite the fact that I consider DS9 the greatest show in a more grand, overall sense, I think CB's "Hard Luck Woman" is the greatest half-hour ever to air on TV. Space Ghost: Coast To Coast is probably the second funniest show ever, and unlike the funniest show ever, The Simpsons, it just keeps getting better and better. The most recent season had some of the best episodes, including "Flipmode", which I think may be the most I've ever laughed at TV. It's on Cartoon Network late Sunday nights; don't miss it. Speaking of CN, Batman: The Animated Series will always be a favorite (in all of its incarnations, including Batman Beyond). Trigun is really good too. Unfortunately, I don't get Cartoon Network at college, but my siblings are taping everything. XD
Back to the whole Simpsons thing, it seems that the best comedy shows on TV are getting really, really bad lately. The Simpsons is Fox's primary source of revenue, so they won't let it go. Thankfully, Everybody Loves Raymond and Frasier are both being allowed to enter what will probably be their last seasons. I mean, they're just not funny anymore. Frasier lost a producer to September 11th, but I don't know what Raymond's excuse is. I guess this just happens over time.
Earthsuit, as I've mentioned many times and will continue to mention, is the greatest, most unique band of our time. They manage to throw so many dissimilar styles together and still make it sound effortless. None of this "here's a jazz part, here's a rock part" -- it's a seamless blend of rock, rap, jazz, reggae, R & B, and... anything you can think of.
They put out one album in 2000: Kaleidoscope Superior. A year or two later they left Sparrow Records, because Sparrow's marketing vision was narrow, catering mostly to the Christian music market.
Unfortunately, after a few years of rumors of their second album, Earthsuit announced that they will be splitting up. But fear not -- they're splitting into two bands! Apparently the lead singer/songwriters, Paul Meany and Adam LaClave, had many great song ideas, but they were having a hard time integrating them into one "Earthsuit" style. It was becoming increasingly difficult to combine their two unique visions. So Paul and Darren (the drummer) are heading Math, generally considered to be the more Earthsuit-y of the two. Adam is heading Macrosick, which is a bit more rock-oriented. Both sound superb, and you should check them both out.
And be sure to look out for their second, final album, "The Rise of Modern Simulation". It will have 5 new songs and many bonus tracks (live, B-sides, etc.). It's available NOW on their web site.
I think that's it. Peace, suckas!
