  • Profile: Well, a couple of years ago, I got really big into downloading AMVs off of p2p. Particularly, DBZ ones. A friend of mine had told me about a particular one that he found (I wasn't even aware people made them, at the time), so I downloaded it. It took forever, so I downloaded others in the meantime. By the time that first one finished, I was already hooked. And I knew enough to know that it wasn't very well-made. But that's neither here nor there.
So, after a while, I started getting my own ideas for videos. Through studying the other AMVs I had downloaded, I learned what to do, and what not to do. I watched for songs and scenarios that had been drastically overused, and made it a note to use those less frequently than others. I didn't want to do anything that had already been beaten into the ground. Although that's hard to avoid when sticking to DBZ videos, but I'm pleased with what I've produced.
My first video was put to "South Texas Deathride" by The Union Underground, and was an all-action video. For a first video, and first time experimenting with Vegas Video 3.0, I'd say it came out fairly well. It's more the timing and choice of clips than anything else, being an all-action video.
After that, I decided on more of a challenge. "Carol of the Bells" by Trans-Siberian Orchestra. An all-instrumental AMV. This one actually had a theme to it; a narrative, you could say. This was going to be my niche, so I thought. Orchestral AMVs.
The next one was put to "Midnight" also by Trans-Siberian Orchestra. This one was something no one had ever done before. A re-narration of a single episode. And not your usual Android Saga, Gohan vs. Cell deal either. No, this was to an early episode. Episode 11, the one with the Pendulum Room.
Well, after that, I had already gone dry on the orchestral AMVs. So, I did one to "Dig" by Mudvayne, via a friend's request and my boredom. Once again, all action, no theme, just timing.
The fifth video was to "Downfall" by Trust Company. I had just watched Movie 1: The Dead Zone beforehand, so it started off with clips from that. Before long, I was doing an AMV re-narration of the movie.
This was to be my next endeavor. My superproject. I would re-narrate Movies 1-13 to different songs, all by different artists, then end with an all-encompassing AMV dedication to all 13 movies with one song.
I won't bore you with all the details of making each video, except that I didn't make them in any particular order. Movie 1 was just first by coincidence, and the last one is the all-encompassing dedication. The rest were done in the order I came up with a good song to do each one to.
I did, however, stray from them for my 6th and 17th videos. 6th was "Crossing Thy Bridge" by ICP, and 17th was "12" also by ICP. If you're big into them, you'll know why I picked #6 and #17 for those.
The superproject consists of, in this order:

    1. Trust Company "Downfall"
    2. Adema "The Way You Like It"
    3. Papa Roach "Infest"
    4. Dust for Life "Seed"
    5. Powerman 5000 "Operate, Annihilate"
    6. Orgy "Re-Creation"
    7. Insane Clown Posse "Assassins"
    8. Korn "Reclaim My Place"
    9. The Crystal Method "Name of the Game"
    10, Disturbed "Fear"
    11. Linkin Park & Jay Gordon "Points of Authority (remix)"
    12. Nine Inch Nails "We're in This Together Now"
    13. Kidney Thieves "Zerospace"
    14. Prodigy "Narayan" (not yet complete)

That comes to a total of 20 AMVs, 19 complete.
What I'll do next, I'm not sure. I've got a few ideas for single song videos. No superprojects though. Although I'm sure I'll come up with something before too long. I'm too ambitious for my own good.
