I remember being easily pleased back then, simply astounded by these little bursts of joy known as AMVs. Needless to say, the combination of the horrifically fast internet connection and ALOT of time gave me ample opportunity to download and watch MANY music videos that freshmen year. I think I ended up accumulating over 50+ that year alone.
Yep, I was quite a fan of AMVs, and it didn't really matter what the quality was like until later. Yup, I even had quite a few DBZ/Linkin Park Videos. I know, I know. Shame on me. But I was new, and these things were addicting in whatever form they came in.
Eventually, I decided that I really wanted to make one myself...but the sad reality was that I owned a Pentium Celeron processor with around 366Mhz (Yes, Mhz, not Ghz) of processing power. This was along with a mere 128Mb of Ram. There was no way anything remotely resembling an AMV was going to come out of my system.
So I became content with just watching AMVs on my PC, soaking up the talent and skill and countless hours of work that these people poured into it. I sampled all of the greats, though recently a favorite of mine has been dwchang, who's "Glory of Love" and "Evolution" videos inspired me enough to actually get off of my butt and create a video of my own.
Yup, I recently bought a new PC. A Pentium 4 2.6 Ghz with 512Mbs of Ram. Just enough to finally start creating my own AMVs. I have a ton of ideas, and I hope to bring them all to fruition in AMV form sooner or later. I just hope they don't suck too much... ;)
