  • Profile: Hn.. I suppose I should put something in here just on the odd, yet extremely unlikely, chance that someone might actually come here...

    Unfortunately, my life is not composed of the stuff that makes for very exciting reading. I'm a scholar of English literature as well as an instructor of college-level literature and composition - which is pretty dull stuff as far as personal narrative goes - certainly no one would ever make an anime about it. My main scholarly interest is the monomyth and how it's reflected in modern literature, particularly genre fiction such as fantasy/science fiction...and that interest is what drew me to anime in the first place. So many of the series and films resonate on a mythic level that it was inevitable, really. As to why I decided to start making amvs...well...I really needed a complex, fiddly sort of hobby that would allow me to procrastinate on grading freshman essays *note heavy sarcasm* and besides that, it just sounded like fun.

    I'm still very much of a neophyte when it comes to anime; to date, I've only seen Akira, the Vampire Hunter D movies, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Cowboy Beebop, Scryed, Shido Midnight Detective (or whatever it's called...something like that) Petshop of Horrors, bits and pieces of Project A-ko, and half of Berserk--well, I've seen a few eps of Dragonball Z and Sailor Moon, and X the movie as well, but I wasn't too wild about those. As of right now, the only one I actually own on dvd is Scryed (which I adore) - so for the time being, any vids I make will be for that series. I also own Petshop of Horrors, but alas, it's on VHS and I have no capture device.

    Anyway, if anyone does happen to chance upon my ramblings here, take a look at my vid if you're so inclined and let me know what you think. I messed up on the compression I think, so the file is rather large, but on the whole, I thought it wasn't too bad for a first vid.
