  • Profile: I'm in Japan with the JET Program, teaching English at a couple of high schools. I've been here since July '03, and had been an anime fan for two years before that. After being intrigued by Perfect Blue and Princess Mononoke, both of which I saw in the theatre before I really knew much about anime, I got hooked on Rumiko Takahashi's Ranma 1/2, after stumbling across a few seasons of it on a friend's computer.

    Apart from my Top 10 list, I highly recommend Irresponsible Captain Tylor, Nadia: the Secret of Blue Water, Black Heaven, and almost anything in the resumes of those listed below.

    My favorite anime creators/directors include Hideaki Anno and the others at Studio Gainax, Akitaro Daichi, anyone named Watanabe, and of course Hayao Miyazaki and his cohorts at Studio Ghibli.

    My favorite anime composer is Yoko Kanno, with Taku Iwasaki and Joe Hisaishi getting honorable mentions.

    My favorite manga artist is Rumiko Takahashi.

    At the moment, my favorite music video studios include Kusoyaro and Big Big Truck.
