  • Profile: A friend of mine, and fellow AMV creator, Soul Bro Ryu (Nightrunner Productions) had introduced me to AMV's around the beginning of 2004. From what he showed me I was very impressed and couldn't wait to see what other people had done themselves. But, low and behold, I was very disappointed when I saw the video entries for AFO 2004. Some contestants had made some good videos, but most were just terrible. Ever since that day I had started to make my own AMV's. Then I found out about this site and to my suprise, I was disappointed again. It's the fact that a majority of people on this site use the same anime over and over and the same songs over and over. For example, I see Naruto and Inuyasha in every other entry, as well as Linkin' Park and Evanesence. I began to notice that noone was using any hip-hop or rap or even r&b and when they did attempt to make a video with this type of music, the videos came out wrong. Noone is listening to the lyrical content and matching them up with the right clips. It's mostly someone picking a popular rap song at the time and just using random clips to make videos. Now, anyone can do this, it is not hard at all. If I started doing that then I would have had over 100 videos uploaded by now, but I don't because I take time and think about the content of the video. "I LISTEN" to the song and it's not just because that's mostly the type of music I listen to, but because I put thought into every video and I don't just make an AMV to make one. Sure, I can use techno, alternative, metal, jazz, etc., and eventually I will, but for now this site needs a major shift in balance for more "urban" music videos because majority of the people using this type of music for there videos just do not know what they're doing. Also, in my opinion, a video doesn't need all types of special effects. Sure it may make the video look better, but if the song doesn't fit or the clips don't fit then I wouldn't even consider uploading or downloading the video. Yeah, I got After Effects, but like my man Soul Bro Ryu said, "I just don't do effects", not unless I really need to, but that's not my angle here. My style is to have a good song that not only compliments the anime used, but makes you rewind the video and keep it in a constant loop as if you were watching them on BET or MTV. I make my videos this way so you can discover that I pick certain songs and certain scenes for certain reasons, reasons that you have to sit and decipher the videos and realize that I put alot of thought into them. Now, like I previously stated in my first "uploaded" AMV, "Broken Promise", I want to show my true potential but am waiting on certain contests, "MegaCon 2005", "JACON 2005" & "AFO 2005". So, if you are in the Orlando, FL area during these cons, come check out my entries.
