So really, who am I? Well, I'm the average guy sitting in front of the computer. All I do these days would be watching anime, playing online FPS games, and making AMVs (though I've been really slow on everything lately, not just AMVs). I would of had more to show, but I don't have some of my earlier AMVs anymore. All I can say is that I accidently deleted them off my computer. Some would take it as an excuse for me saying that I suck at making AMVs, I don't actually make AMVs, or simply because I'm too afraid to accept negative opinions. Well, to tell you the truth, I really did lose all my AMVs (except for one).
Some of my interests would simply be PC gaming, anime, and AMVs. That makes a big part of my life, both on and off the computer. I began watching anime in June 2006, and began with Bleach. What got me into anime? Well, my cousin watched a lot of it, it sounded cool, and Bleach was one of his favorites. So I decided to check it out one day for a random reason and I thought it was cool. At the end of the week, I finished more than 70 episodes of Bleach. That was one hell of a way of starting summer vacation. Eventually I moved onto watching Elfen Lied, Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, and a few others. All in Japanese of course (screw you, english dubs).
Now, what got me into AMVs would be yet another random thing in my life. I've had prior experience to video editing. Believe it or not, but I had to do some crappy video editing in ELEMENTARY school. I was always the computer nerd who knew plenty about how to use computers and all, so I decided to give AMV making a shot, since it put together my interest in anime and my skill in computer-related junk. When I posted my first AMV on Youtube, I was surprised that I didn't get much negative feedback. Even I have to admit that it wasn't great, but maybe it's just because I used an anime as popular as Bleach.
Satisfied with what I could do, I decided to make some more (crappy) AMVs. I was so excited with this new interest of mine that I was impatient. I made AMVs in a matter of hours. The only problem was that I did the rookie thing of Random Clips + Music thing. I never really planned out an AMV that much, and I certainly didn't take time. One word that could describe what I did with my earlier AMVs was "Impatience". I wasn't patient with making those AMVs and they ended up far from perfect, but widely accepted within the Youtube crowd.
Later on, I noticed that I've been spending a bit more time on AMVs, learning different methods and things on my own. The problem of random clips still remained, but of course I learned from a few of those mistakes. In the end, I still had some ameteur looking AMVs.
But eventually, the unbelievable happened: Banned from Youtube. All videos deleted. And I don't even have them on my PC anymore (it's a short story, but let's just say I was doing some cleaning and wiped them out on accident). Well, some good actually came out of that. I have a chance to somewhat start fresh. Though I learned one important lesson: Youtube is a load of **** when it comes to anime in general. I decided to move to another video hosting site. Anybody heard of Stage6?
Anyways, I later on found my way here. I'm surprised I haven't heard of this place before, but I feel more welcome here. Here, I can find tips and advice on how to make AMVs and to simply fit in and talk amongst other people who also have an interest in AMVs and creating them. Though it is a bit different than what I expected, this place rocks. Here I can send in my AMVs and have more skilled people check them out, give some advice, and so I can give my own opinions on the work of others.
So today, my experience in AMV making is still low compared to more experienced people. I don't care if you say anything bad about my AMVs. It'll just mean that I'll have to try better next time. When I make AMVs, I always try to be as original as possible (like using a song nobody has used before) while borrowing ideas from other AMVs to assist with my own ideas. I also try to fit in the anime with the music in terms of mood and stuff like that. And usually I'd try to get translated lyrics for Japanese music, since I'm a HUGE fan of Jpop.
That's some wierd stuff about how I got into anime and AMVs. I hope that I can provide some more of my own AMVs in the future and become a bigger part of this awesome community.
