A nit-picky AMV question...[reducing file sizes]

Post by wolfwood-lives! » Mon Jul 14, 2003 8:55 am

Okay, I've got an annoyance I need to get cleared up. I used Ulead Video Studio 6 to make an AMV. It worked okay, but the file is massive-- like over 600,000 kB massive! What the heck did I do wrong? Am I supposed to save it as a certain file type or something? If so, which one?
... he who laughs last didn't get the joke. :-)

I don't know that program, but mpg is usual if it has that as an option, or wmv. If it's that big, it sounds like you exported it as an avi file - there are ways to compress those if that's the case. :?

I don't know the program either but you can VirtualdubAVS (free program) to compress the file.

Here's a link to the area in the guide concerning you
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/ ... ttodo.html

and here's a link of where to download the programs, codec's etc..
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/ ... mvapp.html

Personally I export my amv's as super mega huge files from my editing program and compress them in virtualdubAVS. It makes my life easier since the editing program is slow as and plus ErMaC and AbsoluteDestiny have an excellent guide that taught me how.

Btw this post should have probably gone in "video software help" and will most likely be moved there by the mods

Or to distribute it in mpeg format, Encode the large file using Tmpeg.

Sounds like you save your vid on Mpeg2....
Check the file and if you hav saved on Mpeg2,you can use the software"DVD2AVI" to change the mpeg2 to AVI or Xvid
Nothing usefull here .

there's a nifty little program called panasonic mpeg1 encoder which usually does a pretty good job compressing vids, there's a standalone and a premiere plugin...That's somewhat off subject from Ulead but...I use premiere so sue me :x
