Couldn't lcate decompressor for format 'DX50' (unknown)
VirtualDub requiers a Video for Windows [VFW] compatible codec to decompress video. DirectShow codecs, such as those used by Windows Media Player, are not suitable. Only 'Direct stream copy' is available for this video...

What tha heck does this mean?

It means you don't have DivX installed (or XviD installed and set to decode DivX-compatible videos), or if you use ffdshow to decode DivX/XviD, you don't have its VFW interface installed. This would most likely happen if you use CCCP, as it installs a stripped-down version of ffdshow that doesn't include the VFW interface like most other stand-alone builds (like from celtic_druid, etc.) of it do.

Stoik

Post by Sand3 » Tue Apr 25, 2006 1:32 am

I'm having the same problem. I had 'stoik video converter' recomended to me as something that could handle the stuff that virtual dub couldn't, but now it keeps shutting down almost instantly when i try to render anything through it. I've been fussing with it, trying to figure out what's wrong, and haven't come up with anything. I think it's a problem in my computer, possibly, because it's been shutting down when i try to reduce anything in premiere too. I've been watching the CPU usage and that's fine. I know I have enough RAM, so I've been having a hell of a time with it all... Does this sound familiar to anyone, I would apreciate help as well.

Yes, you either have to install DivX itself or reinstall the FULL version of ffdshow, which includes the VFW interface, and make sure the VFW interface is configured to decode DivX.
