--private-users AFIACT only sets up what I was calling the trivial mapping: it maps 2^16 users as one block... Trying to figure out how to e.g., map 0-65535 to 2097152–2162687, except map 10,000 to 10,000. AFAICT, the raw kernel interface can do that (by setting three ranges).

FTP uploads are back.

Will work on web uploads next, but that'll be a few days (lack of time and all...)

Also, video technical info (the stuff on the video download page that says the codec, bitrate, etc.) is being stored in a different format than before (for new uploads). So until someone updates that page, it won't display right. Don't panic if you see this—the download should still work fine.

From my previous post: "Uploads will come back first—probably FTP, then web shortly after (I seem to recall the web upload code actually talks to the FTP server—if not, web may come first). Streaming will be next—the big hurdle there is I either need to get Phade to hook back up & turn on Kero so I can copy the encodes off, or alternatively re-encode them all. Re-encode them all will take a while (as in months, but of course we'll start with the popular ones, or ones that are requested, or something like that), but would give us an excellent opportunity to up the video quality."

Good job O: As for previews i think it would be smart to go for both options IF possible. Aka get them old ones for fast fix, progressively replace them with new encodes (if possible).

i know right if everything's fixed wheres the previews, these mods thats been around are all lazy taken along time to do anything at all,
do you remember a year or so ago they posted stuff on trying to finally update the website did all that come to function noo lol
