FF8-The most romantic game in history?
I haven't played all of the Final Fantasy Series, but i can say is that by far, Final Fantasy VIII is the most romantic game there is right now!

FVIII was based in the theme of lameness, fuck that FF worst of the series ever, i've played from FF I to FF X, 8 was lame I hate it due to these reasons:
1. charcters like Squall, Selphie and Rinoa lacked the skill which we have to aquire through endless interactions with human beigns,................................yes It's called personality
2. The story can be summarized as following:
Guy meets chick
Evil sorceress gets somewhere in the middle
School fights
Evil sorceress says she was possesed, and there is a nother bitch inthe future
Guy loses chick
Guy gets back chick
Everone goes to the future
The final boss makes a 2min presentation (although it's the first time you see her)
You kill final boss
guy gets chick Universe is saved
I could write that in a weekend
the best FF ever is 7 , 10 gets near but tidus is too much of a fruit cake

I have to admit, I was changed drastically after playing FF8. something evil in that game put a spell on me.. I think it has something to do with being realistic, more than FF7 or 9. When I got into 8, I was a depressed, lonely bastard who had nowhere to go in life. I dunno how to explain it any further than that... FF8 just seemed like the perfect fantasy life i would've liked to live, 'cuz I contrasted it to my own life. I don't give a damn for it anymore. Somehow, it's gotten control of "Zero_Gundam"... we must SAVE HIM!! *gets out pummeling stick of doom* DIE BALLROOM SCENE DIE!!

I have to agree with the opposing side here. The bottom line of FF8: B-feature romances do not a good RPG make. Hell, I'm a chick and I loathed this game. The characters were flimsy xeroxes of the FF7 cast (which kicked ASS!), and the plot was badder-bad-guy(girl) bullshit with half-assed twists and some of the worst storyline cop-outs I've ever seen (GFs make you forget the people you spent six years of your life with. Almost as bad as "it was just a dream"). Garylisk sad it best: "FF8 blows"
FF7 and FF6 are the kings of the series so far as I've gotten (haven't played enough of FFX). Both had kickass plot and characters. I guess it's something that annoys the shit out of me about gamers today. Especially the 14-15 year old fanboys. All they care about are the graphics.
I'm an old-school gamer. Grew up on a freaking Commodore 64, and my first online gaming experience was MadMaze back when Prodigy was the shit. We had GOOD crap back then, damn it!
Aiy, a gaming rant. I'd better shut up now before this really gets out of hand.

I think that Final Fantasy VII was more moving...
When I played FFVIII... I really felt the romantic thread seemed forced at first. I was more interested in Selphie and Irvine then in the romantic story that happened between the two main characters.
However... after the scene where you save the main girl (I had renamed her Alyssa) out in the depths of space... that's where I really started getting into the romantic plot point... and the end movie was very impressive and quite touching (and a reward worthy of all I went through to win that game)
I was never interested in IX. It just really left me kinda cold.
Sadly... I don't have a PSX 2, so I have not played FF X.

There are two kinds of people in this world:
Those who divide people into two kinds of groups
and those who don't.
