I saw one that was the EXACT opening sequence of the anime- complete with subtitles- simply set to a different tune (a pop song of the 80s). Is this even allowed? That person could have made an awesome video out of scenes of that anime (which I like a lot) to that song- but instead took the lazy way out.

Wow thats quite hilarious ^_~

I actually prefer japanese music, just because I'm more exposted to it. I fiddled with the idea of making a Mad, but I also want to try using the opening song, maybe?

(Says me who's never made a video yet x_x)

I haven't been banned yet. (of course, I didn't bother putting them up on local.) And I've seen at least two other videos like this in the past.

It's not going to win anyone points for effort, but I don't see why not. It's anime, it's music. They risk looking lazy, but laziness is not against the rules.

Vicbond007 won AWA 9 Masters in 2003 with Charcoal Sketched Dreams. (using the intro song from Gasaraki)

I don't think there's a rule persay... but most people probably don't think it's incredibly creative when they are deciding what music to work with. There aren't many intro themes I like that much... so it's not very likely I would use one in a video.
