I don't think I have a preferred genre- meaning comedy, action, or drama. But I do have other preferences.

I like AMVs done using series that I like. It is very rare that I will enjoy an AMV due to something overdone or that I dislike. It would have to be a very original concept- such as Teenage Cowboy Bebop Turtles, What Lain bought on Ebay, Naruto Beavis and Butthead, Vegeta's Can't Touch This Attitude Show, or EVA to Evita or Jesus Christ Superstar.

I like AMVs with music that I like. I like FAST music with a STRONG beat. On the other hand I dislike Linkin Park and similar stuff. No slow music please- it depresses me.

I am not a fan of special effects. If they are done well and used in moderation, they can add to the plot. But an AMV that overuses them is all style and no substance. Guess which overrated AMV I dislike "ducks".

I'm always willing to watch AMVs made to my fave anime and video games- whether current or perennial faves.

I like pretty much any type of genre and anime, as long as the video has a good song and music combination that makes it enjoyable to sit down and watch.

I'll pretty much like any type of amv. But, if you want to know what I like the most is:

Drama vids
Action Vids
Any vid that does'nt suck.
Vids that catch my eye. (like a few Japanese AMV's)

That is all.

I agree with you, too many effects are annoying.

I look for music I enjoy and see if there is a good amv done to it. Some amv's may not be considered great editing but fit the mood of the music and I enjoy that. If an amv is a marvel of editing and has great anime clips but the I don't enjoy the music it goes into my circular file. That said I enjoy all types, humor, action, drama, ect. they all have different types of appeal to me.
Where did you say I'm going?.... And what am I doing in a handbasket?

I really like all amv's and it really depends on how my mood is. hmm.. I like some amv's that are loaded with effects like the WitchHunter Robin- Lunatic Asylum or the Personal Jesus amv made by the same person. It all depends, if it's an action amv then it needs some type of effects to catch the person's eye but if dramatic like let's say something like umm Ceres: Celestial Legend or something of that nature then it can't really have the effects your looking for because it's mellow and automatically most of the time sets the mood for the watcher. :D

I realy wonder about people who feel a strange need to go back any number of pages to reply. I mean, what drives them to go so far back in the first place?
