Subtitles, are they so bad?
Okay I download fansubs and I make AMVs out of them. What is so bad about that. They are impressive quality subs! I just don't have the money for the ripping and nice programs.

mkv or ogm files + avisynth + VirtualDubMod + Editing Software may work. (I think).

mkv's and ogm's have softsubs but not all of the time I say go with Raws if you REALY need downloaded fotage or be able to clean up subs or raws.
Either way Subs are a death wish I think we had this topic all to much about now Subs are a VERY VERY distracting part of the video and will always be noticed and will always be looked down apon seeing as you didnt even take the time to get them out of there in any way...
so to sum it all up with math
Subs = Death

I would think that you, as an AMV creator, wouldn't want subtitles in your video.
Subtitles distract your viewers into reading rather than watching your hard work in making an AMV. And sure what all these other people say is right about alternative methods, but you yourself shouldn't want to see subtitles in your video, otherwise there's almost no point in us trying to convince you otherwise >_>

if you dont want to get comments about subs your best bet is to atleast crop them with vdubmod or something and resubmit your vids... (like ask the mods to take them down so you can resubmit them) you might lose quality but its better than leaving them in and being annoied to the point of pulling out all your hair O.o
