I say go with other amvs that already did the work for you but aahhhh whateverNiotex wrote:mkv's and ogm's have softsubs but not all of the time I say go with Raws if you REALY need downloaded fotage or be able to clean up subs or raws.
Either way Subs are a death wish I think we had this topic all to much about now Subs are a VERY VERY distracting part of the video and will always be noticed and will always be looked down apon seeing as you didnt even take the time to get them out of there in any way...
so to sum it all up with math
Subs = Death
Subtitles, are they so bad?

Yeah, it's all about how seriously you are about making amv's. If you really want to get better and have more respect for what others think about your video and for yourself, you'll put the effort into getting rid of those subtitles. I say this because most people won't look into your work beyond the subtitles -- even if it is a wonderful music video. They really are distracting as well. Cropping your video is not that hard to do and it's not nearly as distracting. I really don't like altering the framing of a show, but I personally prefer that to having part of the screen filled with text. Even so, that would be a last resort for me. Ripping DVD's isn't hard either and there are a number of ways to get them.

Okay, so it's sloppy, but where do I get a free program to rip DVDs...without a DVDR cause you must need that to do it? Enlighten me, please?

right here the AMV APP includes stuff you can use to rip DVDs
how to use the programs
even though its overwhelming this guide has all you need to know about making AMVs
and this will teach you how to crop the subs off of your existing vids.

I've seen dual layer DVD burners for as low as $40 a year ago! Getting a simple DVD drive is less expensive than getting the footage.AnimeChuck wrote:Okay, so it's sloppy, but where do I get a free program to rip DVDs...without a DVDR cause you must need that to do it? Enlighten me, please?
And you don't need a burner to rip DVDs... although with prices so low, why not get one?

I dunno, sometimes even the ones people make themselves are still distractingangelx03 wrote:Because they're horrible distractions (unless you make your own subtitles) .
And in support of the previous post, I just bought a dual layer Samsung 16x DVD+-R Burner from microcenter for $35. same brand just DVD player (no burner) is around $16 I beleive, I don;t buy them anymore since the burners are so cheap.
Go mow a few lawns for your neighbors and bam, you have yourself a DVD Burner. Those that complain about 30 or 40 bucks are just plain lazy.

Sounds to me like you have other problems.AnimeChuck wrote:I'm a fucking loser who can't be half-assed to read guides on subtitle removal, and I bitch about not having enough money for good programs that are FREE!
