27 second intro...too long?

so me and my friend nissan made our intro for our studio today and its 27 seconds long...i was just wondering if you guys think it might be too long, because you know 27 seconds
so yeah...

Well, tell your friend 'brother' to make the intro shorter.
Or maybe you should put a blurb of text at the start that NOW is a good time to go get a drink from the fridge since the video isn't going to start right away.

Think about how often you are going to use this intro. Sure it might be cool the very first time anybody views it, but what about the next time?

We all want to make our mark, but let the individual videos do that. 10 seconds is a good guidline.

If the intro is worth watching again and again, not just by you and your friends, but by complete strangers, then keep it. If not, then cut it down.

As a dial-up user, I can honestly say I hate people who do that - make a video where more than half the file size is crap credits that I probably couldn't care less about. All I need is a name, maybe a flashy 'studio logo' - I don't need 30mbs of self promotion to remember that I'll never download from this person ever again.

The last one I got was a 1:30 minute video - 60 mbs because of the minute long 'out-tro' segment of still credits. Talk about wasting my time. Have a little consideration for who you want to download your video. At *least* put a note in the vid description warning dial-up users not to bother, that half of those 6hrs of downloading go toward still credits and not amv content.

i mean as Arigatomyna said, it really does get annoying. Even i have cable and I think that's annoying.

Although you think it looks cool, people are probably just going to skip the intro anyway, if it really is that long. People don't download your video for the intro...why is it so necessary for you to keep it so long?

I have two thoughts on this matter.

1. Fuck dial-up. This is 2004 not 1994. If you don't have it then your screwed. Seeing as the Donut has made everyone complete slobs as far as encoding/compression goes, most people upload a shity video in 720x480 that weighs in at 90 megs when the same video could easily be reduced to about 35. Since thats the way things are going, dial-up users are even more screwed.

2. The argument that a bumper takes up too much space in the encode is only made by people who have absolutely no idea about comprerssion. A 30 second bumper made of computer generated imagery, usually 1-5 still shots generated in photoshop takes up probably 2 megs and I'd say if most of that is the sound thats playing during.

So in short, bumpers are fine. The only thing someone could legitimately have against them is if they don't have the attention span to sit through 30 seconds of introduction but thats an entirely different discussion altogther.
