Do you work on multiple AMVs at the same time?
I'm still working on one my first "AMV-worthy" videos. I've been working on it for the last 3 weeks now whenever I can find free time.
In between that I've been watching other anime. I realized that it's been pretty distracting! I recently started watching Ai Yori Aoshi thanks to SnhKnives' A Typical Love Story AMV (one of my all time favorites!). I'm now inspired to make one on AYA.
So...do some of you start up a second project in parallel or do you discipline yourself to finish off the current one? Or do you backburn the current one and go with the project that interests you the most?

all the time... if i have a solid concept and really want to start up a new video, i'll do that, but i'll also try to finish any current project i am already currently working on. for me 80% of the time, i have several projects but i havn't actually edited them in a while so if i get a really good idea, i'll start working on it right away.

Thanks for the feedback! I've been trying to stay focused because I have the concept down for my current video but I've been instantly inspired from watching the current anime. I think I need to pick up a 300GB drive soon. Editing is really starting to consume me. I think about it all day...even at work.Pwolf wrote:all the time... if i have a solid concept and really want to start up a new video, i'll do that, but i'll also try to finish any current project i am already currently working on. for me 80% of the time, i have several projects but i havn't actually edited them in a while so if i get a really good idea, i'll start working on it right away.

On a side note, Mitternacht is also on my top 10 list of all time AMVs! That's yet another video that has inspired me to work on AMVs. I played that on my friends in-car DVD player and everyone that heard the music came over. They were instantly glued on the screen. Let's just say that everyone who has seen it begged me where I found your work (I left them hanging for a bit hehe). They thought it was an official E Nomine video.

haha that used to be the case for me before I got a bigger hard drive. Now that I have more room, I've been given a lot more flexibility. BTW, I've been using USB 2.0 (and soon a firewire external HD). You might be able to get away with it if you're still on a laptop. With firewire and USB 2.0 being fast enough IMO, I don't plan on upgrading my internal hard drive anytime soon.dkellis wrote:Personally, no.
This is largely because there isn't enough room on my hard drive for more than one project (and associated files, sources, etc) at the same time.
If I get a bigger HD (which would imply actually getting a desktop), who knows...

I may have multiple ideas at a time. But I usually work on one from start to finish. Which is not something I do when watching an anime series or reading a manga. But while I usually love multitasking (and I do make AMVs while eating and sometimes even doing schoolwork or reading posts in message boards), I have never tried to do more than one AMV at a time. I don't think my video software allows me to.

Losing steam...that's what I don't want to do. The good thing is that I pretty much have my concept laid out on my current video. I just need to execute now.Kusoyaro wrote:I currently have 5 or 6 videos in progress on my PC. I tend to get ideas really quickly, start editing, and then lose steam just as quickly. So lately I've been starting a lot of projects, but hardly finishing any of them
It's just been hard now that I watched AYA. I keep thinking of how it would fit 3 different musical pieces I've been listening to in my car and in the office. Aaarghh...too many ideas...too much anime...too little time...and severely dwindling hard drive space.
