AMV planning, I need a little help

I started on one of my AMVs and I only have about 30 seconds done of it and I realized my original idea is fading. My planning process was basically a simple map of lyrics and scenes with the type of effects I was going to add at certain scenes. I feel if I continue at this pace I won't create a good enough video to give that "rush of adrenaline" feeling that got me into making AMVs. What I am asking for is basically what do the rest of the creators out there use as a planning guide to their AMVs that might help me out? Thanks.

Usually when I get an idea its because a songs lyrics remind me of an anime. So I just try to fit the pieces to the song but I'm only a started but thats how it works to me like a puzzle

That's a nice way to think about it, but I am usually one to go more in depth with the planning process. Thanks for the suggestion.

Get trashed and then start working on a vid, that's what i do (then end up pulling it apart later on because it's randomness doesn't make sense when you're sober) but it leads to good ideas to work from.

Usually when I start a vid, I find an anime and a song and the video will just lay itself out in my head. Even if you start to get tired on working on one video, keep going at it, because you'll never know how it will turn out until you finish it!
