Originality In Anime Music Video's

Alright I know this sounds dumb, but I've been getting the feeling that people only like AMV's bY effects. I kinda find no point in effects. Anime Music Videos are kinda like art. You think about how your gonna edit your AMV. Then once your done, you look at the results. But people keep saying certain AMV's aren't good cause of effects. I see no point in Effects. Maybe some like the ones of "Whisper of the Beast". But now I see nothing, but filter effects or cutting out certain characters just to lip synch. I see no point, in its just a other way for the creator to say. Hey look I added this cool looking effect. But it has absolutely no point in it. They have no point in the theme or the anime. If you look at the really good amv creators or really good amv's. Like Whisper of the Best you see no filter effects to catch the fans attention. So I kinda need to hear everyone else's opinion on using filter effects in AMV's.

I'm no big fan of "effects as a substitute for substance" but two of my lastest faves:

What Lain Bought on eBay

and

Still Preoccupied with 1985

are both very effects-heavy, and I don't see any way that they could have carried through their vision without them.

When you really think about it though... AMVs in general have no real point either... Just learn to live with it and keep telling yourself to stop thinking, it only brings trouble

I don't know about you, but when *I* mask out characters for lip synching purposes, it's because I'm trying to make the video look goofy and silly. Thus it <i>does</i> have a point.
