Re: Collateral - Black Lagoon AMV
The spirit is there. You wanted this to be good. So it's good, but not great. Kudos on the song/show match. It's repetitive, but Black Lagoon somehow doesn't lend itself to diverse tunes.
The reason why there aren't a whole lot of Black Lagoon AMVs (or good Black Lagoon AMVs) is that they all use pretty much the same scenes and they get just as boring to make as they are to watch. That being said, this could have been a lot worse. +points for syncing with scenes instead of cuts. Of course, more cuts would have been nice. It's difficult to find an ideal balance between those two styles but well worth the effort. It's a pain but you really should tighten up the sync a lot more. Little things like that really multiply the punch of the badass. Most of this video was the "potential" for sync, not the real thing. Also, I wasn't sure I liked those little shakes you did. They seemed rather random and out of place when there were many places that could have used them and didn't.
Now, for the good. Last 20 seconds = win. Take that effort and creativity and spread it to the rest of the video and you've got yourself something to be happy about.

I basically meant any type of integrated effect. Starting with simple blurs + contrast & brightness ending with 3D madness and vector stuff. But I guess you wshould optamize the actual editing before starting with effects so never mind.Firestorm2117 wrote:Also, what did you mean by alteration of the sources? Did you mean mixing up the scenes (like I've seen many people do), rather than putting them in order?

Warheart: I see what you mean, now. I had mixed up the words "alteration" and "alternation". As for adding effects, like you said, I'm trying to stick to simple editing for now. Although, someone at work is slowly teaching me After Effects (as well as giving me general editing tips), so I hope to add some effects in future AMVs.
Silk_SK: The "shaking" was actually (an attempt at) a visual effect. The music has some parts where the sound seems to stutter/rewind (or at least that's what it sounded like to me), so I tried to make the video stutter a bit too. Although I admit I didn't do it every time the music stutters, which might be what made it seem so random.

Re: Collateral - Black Lagoon AMV
I haven't seen Black Lagoon before but this was definitely one of the better action vids I've seen this year. I think the AMV is fine the way it was although I do see where people are coming when they say alteration since I guess there is room to do more with this kind of music, my opinion anyway, it got me curious and searching for the anime
