New version of WMM
Does anyone know when they will come up with a third WMM or if they even will?

Microsoft Vista: Windows Movie Maker
This is the new version of WMM that is installed with Windows Vista. There will be no upgrade of WMM2 for XP users since it requires Vista to run.
Details on new features of Windows Movie Maker Vista Edition (I'll refer to it as WMMVE) are scarce and scattered. These improvements are unconfirmed by myself, you'll have to :
Preview window can be resized (WMM2 was limited to 320 x 240), not sure on max size.
Preview and scene edits are done at 30fps instead of WMM2's 15fps.
DV-AVI smoothing filter now removed (or disabled). DV-AVI output should be sharper.
Improved codec support for file importing. If the proper codec is installed, WWMVE should open (in addition to what WMM2 imported):
--MPEG-2 files
--VOB files (extension may need to be renamed to .MPG)
--MP4 files (SP/ASP and I'm assuming H.264/AVC as well)
--Media Center Edition DVR-MS encrypted MPEG-2 ASF files
New transitions and effects.
Support for HD output (WMV-HD I suppose) for Home Premium and Ultimate versions.
Export to DVD (Windows DVD Maker) for Home Premium and Ultimate versions.
