This does seem rather soon, but i have the good fortune of bein a senior in high school so that it doesnt really matter for me.
Anyway this is my first con and im still kind of noobish about technical things, so after reading the rules, i was a bit confused about the format. If I follow the section about conventions in EADFAG, will this be okay for otakon?

The AMV deadline was always around 12 weeks before Otakon... I think back in 2003 it was even 14 weeks before the convention.Vlad G Pohnert wrote:3 months prior to the Con for the deadline... That's going to be tight for me to get things done... Why 12 weeks?
The reasons why are that cataloging & timing around 200 AMVs takes time, making slates & mastering up half a dozen prescreening tapes takes time, selecting the finalists takes time, printing the ballots takes time, and mastering the contest tape takes time. And this year there's not going to be Otaku Video there to lean on for the heavy lifting.
Honestly, it's a big pile of work to do in twelve weeks without screwing it up royally, or burning yourself out in the process, or slacking off at the day job.
I agree though, that it would be more helpful if the rules could be posted before Christmas (rather than in February) but that just never seems to happen.
