Is it against rules to get advised on the category to enter an AMV?
One of mine counts as a parody and commercial/trailer.
Reading the rules again I see the parody category has to follow the rule of "at least 70% of external music or songs", mine doesn't so that would put it in commercial/trailer, correct?

Depends if it is a trailer or commercial. The idea here is that this is an "AMV" contest (Anime "Music video")... Some people in the past have send it straight dialogue with no music and by the contest definition this is considered not an AMV. Parody still must be an "AMV" We do allow 30% dialogue.

The exception for trailers and commercials were made as a sub genera of AMVs (and to be a trailer or commercial it really must parody a "trailer" or a "commercial".

I suggest you send it in and we'll take a look at it to see if if qualifies under the rules.

I have to ask just to be sure.
Anime/music credits are not allowed? and personal logos?

That is correct. No credits, no personal logos (except for Trailer category vids, where appropriate). We create credit slates for you, which appear after your vid.

I know how AMV events in Europe require them, but on this side of the pond we prohibit them.

Okay, thanks.
Some contest didn't exactly have the clearest rules so I've learned the hard way to just outright ask about things.
