There has been some confusion and I think I need to re-clarify something I am pretty sure has already been clarified on both forums this contest posts on (Anime Expo Forums and a-m-v.org).

For those of you submitting your entries and emailing your links via online submission. If you haven't already sent your links then stop. You have missed the deadline. The postmark deadline for mailed in entries and Online submission entry forms is the same. April 30th.

There have been a few of you who have tried to rules lawyer it stating that because the rules did not explicitly state we had to have your links by April 30th you should be allowed to wait till the postal receipt deadline of May 6th.

No. As has been stated before when asked bout this very topic, to allow the Online submission folks to not provide their links till as late as May 6th gives them an unfair advantage over those who USPS mailed their entries to us. It effectively gives them a whole extra week if we were to do it that way.

If we were to do this I would have all of those who actually mailed in their entries up in arms wanting to lynch myself and Nikki (and they would be rightfully angry.)

For those of you who misread the rules I am sorry. But to make those exceptions would be effectively equivalent to slapping and spitting on those who did follow the rules.

Well that's a definitive an answer as I could have hoped for and it seems to be intended to promote fairness. I trust that the rules document for next year will be amended to avoid further confusion. If you're taking suggestions maybe only offering one method of submission (E.G. only By Mail or only Online) would keep this from becoming an issue.

Can I ask how many entries were turned away by this ruling?

Suggestion accepted and actually already thought of. Though the reinforcement helps. We will be more clear in the rules for next year's contest. We also have considered going to an online only format in the past. However, to date the potential negatives still outweigh the positives.

Regarding how many entries, I can't give an exact number for a couple of reasons. However suffice it to say yours was not the only one affected. I really am sorry for the inconvenience. Worst case, your video is done for next year.

I have entered one of the two bins of entries into our data base. I unfortunately have to stop as I do have to get up inhumanely early for work. Michael will be quality checking those entries tonight, I will start sending out the confirmation emails tomorrow on my breaks and lunch. I bring you this update for a purpose, please, please, PLEASE, stop emailing us asking if your amv arrived and plays.I promise when we are not at our primary jobs, we are glued to the pc's getting you guys checked in and notified.I know the stakes are high this year and everyone's anxious but please take a few minutes and breathe,it will be ok.I will continue to let you know as I send out batches as I have been ,and we will let you know when we are done with all of them. If you have not heard from us when we post that we have finished processing everything THEN please contact us immediately.
