By all means, please post a link to yours (I am as shocked as you are that you didn't make it in)....

I mean, I'm extremely happy to make it in!...but other factors are keeping me from running around the house in joy like when Be My Girl got in last year.

I don't mean to imply anything and congrats to everyone else!!
Just keep in mind. Totally new crew this year. New Directors, new judges. None of this years judges have judged years past. Though there was one individual I really wanted to judge but his schedule wasn't conducive. He had judged before.

I won't be uploading it till mid June, but my entry was "Go the distance".

I guess so, unless you also want to post some of the other judge's opinions. Although having to remember the 120+ entries that didn't make it in may be a bit tough.

If not, it's all good.

To me, that is a big part of what makes a good amv versus a compilation. If it makes me want to see or re-watch the anime used then it is more effective in my mind.
Aaaaaand, as a matter of fact, there was a special bonus question on the judging ballots asking precisely that.

The best AMVs are ones geared for people who are unfamiliar with the show and inspire people to go see the show.

well there were a few things that surprised me. though I risk killing XStylus's game thing by saying it. I was surprised by the lack of ANY LinkinBall-Z vids. There were surprisingly few Eva or DBZ vids. only one fully Haruhi that I can fully remember and it made the finals.

There was a video that I was heavily impressed with but the judges weren't because I don't think they fully appreciated the level of work that had to go into it to get the footage let alone put it all together. It was "Blame KH2"

What impressed the hell out of me about it was it was entirely in game footage from Kingdom Hearts II. Not a single frame of FMV. Which means they captured it in real time from their PS2. Also given that they have footage from all over the game it means they had to play through it and mark where they wanted with save points. On top of all of this they put together a pretty solid action vid that makes me want to finally finish KH1 let alone KH 2 (have only played part way through both games.)

HMMMM lets see, another one that comes to mind as a stand out vid, I really liked Vespabee's "Some Girls Try Too Hard". I am a big Slayers fan but I also liked the little undercurrent joke with the girls who were trying too hard. :)

I really liked the way Ryan's Rocky/Ippo vid was executed. It was very clean and from a technical stand point very very well done. I am very impressed with the quality of the video and the amount of work that clearly went into it. However, not being much of a sports fan, I have to be honest and say the video itself was not my cup of tea.

I was also really impressed by the "Live Session-Beck(Mongolian Chop Squad)" it was well synced and the effects were well timed. It was one of the less that five Linkin Park songs submitted and done well.

Oh and RiderG. I really really liked "Demons and Angels". I think I got what you were goin for with the juxtapositions of the characters use. I don't think the judges got it. You also get bonus points for Gargoyles. ;)

Wired Knight's "From the Diary of Alphonse Elric" I thought was hilarious. Dark as hell but hilarious. However I don't think my opinion was shared. Maybe my exes are right and I really am dark sadistic bastard. ;)

oh and so you all don't think I am just sweetness and light. There are videos I flat out didn't like and there is one in particular that annoyed the crap out of me. The joke got old less than a minute into the vid.

HMMM I think I will stop there for now (continues searching through the HD for standouts.) More as I get them. There are ALOT here.

Congratulations to the finalists.
I was not expecting my video to make it due to quality.
I still submitted it but would have remastered it if I had time.
I found out my ripper program was lowering the resolution & quality.
But by then I only had a few days left and only the version I submitted.
Well, I'll still remaster it for other competitions and here on the org.

Does anyone know if the people who made it to pre-list judging get passes?
i heard that they did in the past but was not sure if the new admin's were doing it.
If they are doing that how do we know if we made it that far.
