UMM different contest. Best of show has never had the staff vote as part of it's tally. For the AX contest the Best of show is determined by all the ballots from the live presentation.
This is to prevent the whole "bias and corruption" angles.
This will become more clear in a couple posts when I post the details on the cash prizing.

that's something that used to confuse me. when i first started entering i kept hearing different explanations of what earned best of show. but from recent years i realized it's determined by the audience.

BIngo. It is the only real way to prevent potential bias and defuse accusations of corruption and such. I take that shit very seriously.
