Does anybody use Sony's Vegas Movie Studio?

Post by Sand3 » Fri Sep 25, 2009 1:26 am

I really don't think I'm at a pro kind of level that would actually be able to make any use of the fancier programs like Vegas Studio, so I'm looking at 'Movie Studio Platinum Pro 9' and wondering if you can do masking with that one. That's the only kind of advanced thing I can really foresee myself making use of... So does anybody use it or an earlier version and know if it can mask? I haven't bought editing software in a while because my money has all been going towards school for the past few years, so I'm kind of out of date...

I have it and you can't mask, but you could always work around that using a picture editor and the chromakeying tool like I do. It's a good program considering the price, though. =]

Platinum is like Vegas Pro, but with a lot less features. No, you can't mask in Platinum but in most Pro versions, you can. Sony's Movie Studio is more of a consumer- level program, so you really won't be able to do much in editing terms other than basic fades/cuts and effects. Vegas pro is what you'll need if you want masking... and you don't really have to be a "professional" editor to make use of its other functions.
