are there any black characters in anime? like main characters? or just kick ass costars?

Hmm...Nadia? Urd is darker than most. There was a black guy in Black Heaven. The Shaft brothers in Cowboy Bebop. That's about all that comes to mind right now. I've heard the Japanese aren't big on black people...

There was a black guy in Dirty Pair Flash. I think his name was Mr. Porporo.... or maybe just Poporo... He gave the Lovely Angels their missions.

There's a black guy in the Manga Shaman King also. But I really don't know anything about him. He has big lips for some reason though...

he doesn't count because sin was a pretty shitty movie. that kid in wild horses (cowboy bebop) was pretty cool though. you know, the apprentice kid

there were a few black guys in Macross plus, like the general or colonel. They don't have alot of black people in Japan and I don't think that rap and stuff is too popular either so maybe that's why.
