Question for those who know the .hack series ***SPOILERS***
I have a question. I've watched .hack//SIGN all the way through and I've seen 6 episodes of Legend of Twilight's Bracelet (the second Anime in the dot hack series) and played about an hour of Hack Infection, and I just don't get how Aura goes from this quiet, shy little kid who doesn't say a damn thing in Hack Sign, to this influential and mysterious character in the game and Legend anime. I know there's supposed to be a Manga in there somewhere.... Am I missing something? Has it been explained exactly who or what she's supposed to be in relation to the story? A hacker like Helba, who is somehow trapped like Tsukasa was? A system moderator, like Subaru? If left to wonder, I could come to my own conclusions which would probably be completely off from what the writers intended.
I would like to have a long chat with whoever wrote that story, and I hope to God he knows English.

SPOILERS HERE! DON'T READ ON IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN ALL OF HACK SIGN!
OK, so it is the Manga that is called hack Dusk. I was wondering about that; the second Anime shows up on Kazaa as Hack Dusk. I have it as Hack - Legend of Twilight's Bracelet.
I was joking about them knowing English; after I posted that, I realized that could be misinterpreted as racist. I only meant that I'd love to ask them a bunch of questions, but I don't know Japanese.
For example, what happens when Helba "discards the field." Obviously it forces everyone, including Tsukasa, to log out. First of all, I didn't get why Tsukasa was in the hospital this whole time, and why "she" was there in the first place. But if Aura is a part of the game (as opposed to being a player) what happened to her when Helba did that? I assume in our terms (being about 5 years before Hack Sign is supposed to take place) she caused the server to crash, punting all users and saving them from the "fate worse than death" that Skeith had in store for them.

From what I have heard, the stories in Infection; the OVA, the TV series and the manga don't overlap other than the general plot line. I found the OVA and tv series odd that they didn't support the same characters.
If you have the game, you should have the OVA movie that came along with it, it has some interviews with the creators.

Thank you, I have not checked out the DVD yet. My cousin, who is borrowing Hack Infection, told me the DVD has files (he presumed) I already have. He was referring to Liminality, which did not even play due to technical difficulties.
Also, what happened to Tsukasa?!? As you can tell by my Av, he was my favorite character. I understand that there are 20 million users of The World, but Kite and BlackRose get to be in the game and the second Anime and so far I don't think they're nearly as cool or as deep as Tsukasa, Subaru, Mimiru, Bear, and others from Hack Sign.

Well, the 3 games will each have a movie disc and on it will be a part of the OVA. I really liked it, it's neat to see what is going on in the 'Real' world while these people are in comas. But they are releasing the OVAs with the games so we have to wait. I suggest you watch it as soon as you get it back, I liked it as much as the series

About the Kazaa and fansub titles for the anime, DUSK and Legend of Twilight's Bracelet are fansub titles for the anime. Since that's the only way you can get the anime at the moment it's no wonder you've got them named as that. I know the Legend of Twilight's Bracelet was the title given by the group Anime Junkies. The actual title in untranslated romanji Japanese is: .hack//UdeDen. What Bandai would entitle it is completely unknown at this time.
Yeah anyways, .hack for dummies can answer a few of the most questions you have about the .hack project.

I watched all of .hack//sign, a bit of dust, watched the ovas, and played the demo of the game. The plots dont interconnect but they are elements to the big story of what the world is and who the main players are. While Aura isnt explained at the begining or trully in the anime Im sure that she will be explained in the later chapters of the game. I believe that there are 4-5 games in all. The person trapping people in the game is the random voice of the game who is in the end of the anime and will prob be revealed in the last game. Also the reason for the trapping is unknown. Tsukasa as known ingame is a girl whos mind is trapped in the game. Tsukasa was (kindof) reprogramed with fake memories, when tsukasa wanted to leave the game he did that whole battle thing yada yada yada eventully being kicked out of the game returning to her own body in the hospital.
