Any XIX / XX realistic war footage?

Post by Peterka » Tue Feb 27, 2007 5:20 pm

Hi!
I plan to make AMV about the War. I would be the most happy if I don't have to use modern (late XXcentury) weaponry.
I'd prefer late XIX (colonial era . or at least
steam-punk) or XXc
Some politician speeches will be fine too

I know:
Saikano (last hope  ) modern
Grave of the Fireflies WWII
Beyond the Clouds: PPiOED

I can think of
Sakura Taisen
Now and then, Here and Then
Wings of Honneamise
Jinho Wolf Brigade
Last exile
what do you think about them? Do they have many good, usable scenes? What's the level of realism? Any remarkable scenes "in the midst of a battle"?

Any other anime you can think of? How is it like?

Thanks in advance

Last Exile has a very colonial-era feel to the weaponry and fighting tactics. And the vanships have a WWI/WWII feel to them. Plus, it's steampunk.

I'd also suggest Miyazaki's Princess Mononoke and possibly Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind.
Having trouble playing back videos? I recommend: Image

Porko Rosso has WWI type biplanes but aren't that realistic. might be useable though.

Maybe try Cannon Fodder on the Memories dvd, Some WWI type cannon scenes maybe.
Where did you say I'm going?.... And what am I doing in a handbasket?
