Uhm, FF6 was released in Europe. I brought it here in Germany. It's a PAL Playstation version with English text and a German manual. I guess it's a UK version in a new cover.
So, don't know the exact number of European countries it was released in, but certainly more than none.

Funny, I never liked Gau, don't really know why. Terra on the other hand was great. As a character as well as a fighter. Locke was a good character and his "Steal" skill was extremly usefull.

Kasuga>Yes I know the game was released but not in 1994!

Shadde>Naaaaaaaaaaaa! Gau doesn't suck! If you think so it is because you can't use him properly! Come on! Made "Meteor" "Magnitude 8" "Fire3" and others strongs attack in the World of Balance time O_o
He is really strong! You just have to leap into the good monsters! That's all :-p

I actually don't use the Vanish/X-Zone or Vanish/Doom bit too much, since it takes all the fun out of kicking boss' asses. Still, I have no qualms about using a Phoenix Down on various undead things like the Phantom Train :D

I've had FF6 on SNES since '95 or so, and I still like it, probably more than FF7. In combat terms, the characters in FF7 become indistinct once you load them up with tons of materia, but the ones of FF6 retain some individuality. Of course, you can still take the time and load them up with all the magic, but I like to make "haves and have nots," by giving some characters (Terra, Celes, Edgar, Sabin) all the spells, and giving fewer to characters like Gau and Setzer.

Played this game for about an hour at a friends house, quite enjoyable. If it weren't for all of the non F.F. RPGs I want to check out in the future, I'd be playing it right now.

I do not think FF6 has been forgotten. On the contrary, most people hail it as the best FF ever. Even better than 7.

FF6 was the first FF that I ever played. FF7 would be second. I like FF6 best, then 8, then 7, then 4 and 9, then 10/X-2, then 5, and Tactics is dead last.

I'm even dressing up as Terra Branford for JACON.

I'm playing through ff6 now. It rocks but, start ocean: second story will allways have the best combat system in a console rpg ever. But when Elder Scrolls: Oblivion comes out, I will forget than any other rpg ever existed, except mabey for morrowind.

Yeah, I played FF6, more or less avoiding all the exploits... (as well as FF5 and a little of the others here and there) But I'm not going to be all old skool FF-expert and say it was the best. Don't get me wrong, it was a good game, but I like the later FF games, FF7 in particular.
