For four years, Magic Knight Rayearth was my favorite anime and manga. It did not seem that anything would replace it. After all, MKR has all my favorite things: fantasy, sci-fi, adventure, complex characters, plot twists, and tragedy.
But last November, thanks to a friend's recommendation, I watched Rose of Versailles. I had to marathon the first 20 episodes because it was so GOOD! I could not stop watching. And I kept imagining that if a certain matchup occurred and a certain kind of ending took place for them, MKR was going to have a hard time staying at number one.
It happened like that indeed. I then read the manga in French (it's not available in English) and watched the musical. Adieu MKR. Bonjour Beru Bara.
There have been other anime where I have shouted how good they were and could not wait for more. Gankutsuou most recently. And last year Kaleido Star was going to be the top anime of the year (but certainly would not have replaced MKR) until I watched Beru Bara.

No matter how hard time tries I will always be a Sailor Moon junkie (aka a moonie). Back in me super newbie days I would watch the dub then go away. Then I would watch it again followed by going away. Then the movies came back so I'm back to watching the moon again. The tv show box sets came out and I watched it again. I got S recently and watched that. Now I'm watching the Live Action while I'm waiting to get that semi dreaded due to Chibiusa SuperS. Somewhere inbetween I watched Stars twice. Since Mars is my favorite anime character I will always have some parts of the show in my life.

if u wanna get hooked on something, watch Ranma, Shaman king, Yu Yu hakusho, ranma and shamanking is the only thing on my mind one side of my brane is ranma and the other is shamanking. trust me im asian i've watched animes my whole life.
