God I hate questions like this. But anyway...
Best made series is a relative term, since I believe there are some series that excel in certain areas and fall short in others (like X the movie had gorgeous animation, but the plot's condensing was insanely stupid). But overall I'd say my vote would have to go to....
Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust
The animation is absolutely SWEET (all must hail the gods that are Madhouse), and the plot puts an interesting spin on the typical anime vampire. They aren't ALL evil bloodsuckers who want nothing more than to extinguish humanity, and they're trying to make it in their cursed existence just like humans are. The music is incredible, ranging from hauntingly lovely to downright creepy and intense. And the English voice acting is some of the best you will EVER hear.
Guess that's my $.02

nothing much besides i didnt like the origional premise .. throwing little red and white balls on poor defenseless little animals and the whole degrading\outcast of poor ol' psyduck.... it just taught kids to discriminate .. j\k .. i never really liked it as a personal preference ... jin-Roh was badass too.And what's wrong with Pokémon, FATTY_VM?
...the problem I see a lot is that many good amv makers think they suck, and many bad amv makers think they're good.

The anime I will make! Someday... maybe...
Seriously, there is really no such thing as a best anime. Because there are so many different genres and even some of the best anime have some sort of flaw that can make you dislike that particular part of them. Take for example Evangelion. There are lots of fans for it, and the majority of them hate the main character, Shinji's guts.
I believe there never will be a single anime that is truly better than all others. Similar to how there will never be a single AMV that is truly better than all the others.

true, but in essense.. if there weren't such opinionated questions... then there wouldn't be threads like this where people can find out about anime's that people revere most and explain why in order for a person to relate to the persons feeling of it, hence enticing them to go ahead and buy it..KLin wrote: I believe there never will be a single anime that is truly better than all others. only time when threads like this can get bad is when some asshole comes in, nicely gives his opinion of an anime, and then goes ahead and generously bashes every other anime mentioned on the thread for the sake of making his look better, or starting ill mannered debate with other people over the most pathetic topic to debate.. opinions.

Neon Genesis Evangelion. No question, no debate. It is greatness incarnate, liquefied and used to ink the cels.
Other than that, I haven't seen any anime that twisted my mind and reforged my soul, but Inu Yasha is good and Cowboy Bebop has its high points (Ganymede Elegy and Hard Luck Woman being the only high points that I remember clearly... there might be more, I'd have to suffer through the whole series again to check)

Name an anime that you think defines greatness more so than Evangelion, and I will watch it and either come up with a 200-page essay on why it doesn't, or I will surrender to your vastly superior familiarity of anime.
Only one anime actually has stickers on the box set declaring it the greatest anime ever. No other anime can claim that.
Seriously, I'll accept your Pepsi Challenge. Just name an anime.
