I thought the dub was alright, although it sounded like the vaoice actors were just getting the feel for the characters and I needed to get used to hearing it dubbed for the first time to actually rate it. A 2nd viewing would help the rating processes but I won't have an actual 'good' opinion of the dubbing till then.
Going on first impressions, some of it felt iffy. The Scarlett knight sounded a bit goofy with the fakey athoritive speech but sounded better during the fight in the end where he seems to drop the 'I am in command' sounding speech for a more human voice, and Bear after he ended his speech (I needed to hear that again to be sure). Also I thought the grunts the dubbers did for battle scenes weren't very good, a bit too forced.
I'm always iffy about voices though till I get used to them, If that never happens then I consider it a bad dub because its all noticable and out of place sounding. I was iffy when I saw the first Cowboy Bebop Episode, but the dub got good and quick. Jet's dubber, I think, took a bit longer to get the feel of his Char then the others though.
Well those are my opinions about it at least. I think the dub will get better over time as they usually do, its just a matter of how fast the dubbers can adjust to the scripts and chars. Speaking of scripts, I would have to say they did Americanize it a bit but it really didn't have much of an impact on the storyline. I still have hope that the dub will become very good.
And on another note, sorry KLin, dispite your best efforts to keep this topic in a different topic relating to the same thing you have failed. My heartfelt sentiments go with you.

Well in that case I guess I'll have to repost everything I posted there:
The reason why NOIR seems similar to .hack//SIGN is because they were created by the same company. (Bee Train) And their music was composed by the same composer. (Yuki Kajiura)
This is old news, but .hack//SIGN will premeire on Cartoon Network in the United States on Feb. 1st, 3:00 PM.
Just finished watching Episode 1: Roleplay on Cartoon Network. I'm pleased that it is not edited at all. Although, right now I'm sure however many young people are having trouble understanding what it's about. The dubbed voices are spot on I'm wowed that Bandai managed to scrounge up such appropriate sounding voice actors. Even the NPC merchant sounds very similar to his Japanese counterpart. It definately helps since the .hack//SIGN is an audial work of art as well. I'm thinking of reuploading my Lovesick Signs AMV to celebrate the successful translation.
