I havent seen all of kenshin so i dont know Hiko, but I think Shishio should be above Soujirou i mean he was shishios subordinate. and i even though he is a bad ass i think saito would be below aoshi he had the perfect defence and made kenshin cough blood after like five or six hits. also i have had the conversation about spike before with my roommates jet would most likely beat him and eds dad kicked his ass. if we are talking mechs though i like eva better i think gundams would beat them because they are more mobal but a vandread could beat a gundam. lastly for those that talk about goku....he never could have beaten garlic jr, but who the hell realy considers dbz in this kind of a contest.

Shishio Makoto
It's quite obvious at the end of the fight that Shishio is exponentially stronger than Kenshin. Given, he was so powerful that in the end he lit himself on fire, but he is still stronger. The only reason he lost is b/c well...his own strength killed him.

If you watch, the last thing Shishio does is go to strike Kenshin and the blow was so powerful that the ground shakes and it's QUITE obvious that Kenshin can BARELY even fend it off. Now you tell me if Kenshin would've won if that continued...no way. Shishio at this potential against Kenshin at his (after he was knocked out and the leaves were cracking) isn't even a match.

*more spoilors*

Yes but remember, if kenshin was holding a real sword he would have won the match. Even though Sishi-o may have been stronger, Kenhsin out smarted him with his succession technique. If you remember, Kenshin hit him straight in the side, hard enough to send Shishi-o flying into the air and hitting about 30 feet down-field. Now, because it was a blunt blade and not a sharp one, it didnt cut him straight in half, instead just made him hurt really bad ^_^.

I too would have to put Kenshin ahead of both Seta and Shishio. There are a lot of other great fighters too but I got to mention Miroku, I mean he can fight well and if worse comes to worse he can suck you into his kazaana (air-rip).

Well, I think the only reason Soujirou would lose to Shishio is b/c he respects Shishio. Personally, I think someone you can't see can beat just about anyone. IIRC, Shishio recruited Soujirou as a child b/c he saw the natural talent he had (Tenken) without any formal training. I think Soujirou would lose purely because he respects Shishio and probably couldn't think that he could win and then...wouldn't win.

As for Saitoh and Aoshi, this is one of those things that I think is debateable. I think Aoshi has more talent (after he got all psycho), but Saitoh is A LOT smarter. Something to do with "Only people who fought during the Bakumatsu can only know" or some junk like that.

I agree...to a degree. Once again though, take Shishio at his maximum potential and Kenshin at his...Shishio would strike once and slice Kenshin in half. That pure amount of power is just amazing. You gotta remember that the first half of the fight, Shishio wasn't even really trying and still kicked the crap out Of Kenshin. I think if they were fighting at their maximum potential, Shishio would win.

Regardless of how strong (or weak) Kenshin is, you guys gotta remember that the show is NOT about strength. That was the whole meaning of the fight, that the strongest isn't the correct one (or the thing that matters). That's what makes the show interesting...if he were that strong the show would be boring as hell.

Well whatever in the end, I was fairly sure everyone would disagree since (no offense guys), everyone has a thing for Kenshin and thinks he's just this badass and can't be beaten and all that (although that's not the point of the show). I think some people need to see past all the fighting and see him as the interesting character he is. I mean, it's not WRONG for the main character to not be the strongest..in fact I think it creates better conflict...oh well whatever (shrug).

I don't know, Alcaurd from Hellsing, he was really bloody strong and, the show didn't suffer because of it,

*spoilers*

knowing that his enemies didn't have a chance, (at the end atleast) made it all the more entertaining, Even when a vampire merged with a demon from hell Alcaurd still made him wimper in defeat, 'what are you, you monster!!'
thats so awsome, i guess Alcaurd would probably get my vote for strongest, he's just powerful beyond belief, at the end i was still going.. damn, what is he??

And further more,
Fighting at the max, in the end they all did, and they all failed.
Sure, if they went full out from the begining it might of made matters different, but same with Kenshin if he was still the manslayer.
Even so, things didn't turn out like that, Shishio Proved weaker because he faultered and didn't go all out, his pride or whaterver clouded his judgement and which resaulted in his defeat furthermore once defeated he was the weaker for whatever reason he failed to beat him the fact remains he failed to beat him.
as for the kid, he did the same, and in the end he did go full strength against kenshin's final move and i believe as my friend watched it for the first time on the big screen he placed it best 'he got owned'

The strongest is decided by the last man standing. And, those guys all fell on their arse

This reminds me of the endless 'Strongest Robot' debate. Unfortunately there's no video game like SRW to help decide. Maybe we should petition Banpresto to make a crossover Strategy/RPG using non-robot and non-vehicle Anime characters in a similar style as SRW. Banpresto already made a Tenchi Muyo Strategy/RPG already. :) Maybe I just want to play a video game where you can have the Knight Sabers and the Soul Taker on the same team. :)

Well see, I have a different definition of strongest I guess. Although I do agree with the point you brang up, both of them were beaten by their own pride, so in your definition, that makes them weaker. I can agree with that to a degree. But again, I still stand by what I say since I defined it as...at full potential who would win...of course like you said..they made their mistakes and one could say that makes them weaker. I am going purely on skill and strength. Regardless, I don't think this is going to go anywhere and I kind of regret bringing up since I was pretty sure it would go this way (i.e. everyone supporting Kenshin). Oh well...kind of hard not to like the main character right?

Somewhat related, but Kenshin's succession technique is not that great...I mean it is, but...well...I don't think that is the END all move that can just own everyone (and hence he is the strongest). If anyone has read the manga they know that his move is beatable...easily in fact. Against Enishi, Kenshin has nothing...

On a side-note, I think Himura Kenshin (at the end of the Kyoto Arc) is much stronger than Kenshin the Battousai. This is proven purely on the fact that he knows the succession techniques. I think the Battousai actually might've lost to Shishio.

its an interesting point you make, i'm sorry i don't mean to be argumentive, I guess thats just in my nature
I've never read the manga so that much you have, and i never knew Enshi had a defence against it?
(does that mean it involves large gun of sorts? or perhaps he sits in tank and glees evily from behind the armoned hull)
