That is one of my favorite lines from the original streamline dub!!!RichLather wrote:"Men, we're going to the Olympics!"

Badass..I saw this way back when and I would have to wholeheartedly agree.RichLather wrote:Macross II
Gah. I hate when people praise dubs... (wow that required less than 15 characters to modify your statement...excluding this of course).AgentONea1 wrote:Gah. I hate when people complain about dubs..
You have an excellent point dubs AND subs can't be 100% accurate. However, for me I think with the sub you lose...less. You can lose a little in translation (the same or more in dubs..use the same script or modify the sub script), but you keep the original voices, emotions, tones, mannerisms, voice direction and so on. I do of course agree, best is to well..learn japanese and hell...even live there and learn their culture (b/c of the references).AtomicWeezleman wrote:the problem with dubs is, it will never be 100% accurate to whats being said, same applies to subs, its imposible, the only way to win in this sittuation is to learn the language....but hey, i prefer subs, the jokes ussually work better....it seems to me that english voice actors dont have a sense of humour.....

I saw it WAY back when and it's sentimental to me. Now would I watch it over the sub...maybe. Some of the voices are "wrong" and not that accurate, but at the same time...voices like Kuno and Nabiki were hilarious. Either way..I understand the sentimental thingy....it tends to blind us from the truthKracus wrote: I love reading your post. Anyway, the first version of Akira was the first anime I bought I loved it from the start. I have no problems with it, so I have sentimental values stuck with it. So i'll defend it.
