I think it's safe to say at this point that you aren't the only female anime fan who doesn't dig Yaoi.
pretty much everything after this is personal opinion.
Most over-obsessed Yaoi fangirls remind me of the women you see buying the trashy romance novels in the supermarket checkouts due to the inadequacy of their actual lovelives. Pretty sad really.
And on a more personal note: Nothing good has ever come from FanFiction.net. Ever. FanFiction in itself puzzles me, since it's about as uncreative as you can possibly get. Any schmuck can write fanfiction.

I'd probably beg to differ on that. True, I've read some complete crap. But I've also read some really really good ones, both where the author seemed to really understand the characters and had them behaving very much as they should, or where they took the characters and place them in a very different situation without losing their basic spirit. An excellent example of the latter would be Lewis Burden's Urusei Yatsura: Just A Dream.Alterwolf wrote:pretty much everything after this is personal opinion.

[quote="BishounenStalker]Gundam X is heading over here?! I REALLY want to be happy about it, but like you I'm afraid of what the idiot fans will do to it (considering what they've done to Wing and G).

Fortunately it doesn't look like it's going to be for a while given Zeta's upcoming release (for that record, anyone I see doing either Camille/Quattro or Camille/Scirocco will NOT be spared)
The speculative series releases in the US are as follows
Zeta (confirmed) - ZZ - GX - V - Turn A (Possibly SEED first) with F-91 being released somewhere in the middle (possibly after ZZ)
On the plus side, the prospects for a movie for the series have gone up
a) A plot device
or
b) Surprisingly because they think it's hot (the sad part being I'm not joking)
As for LOTR, on one final note...because of that section I find myself REALLY starting to hate Legolas (originally I had no problems with him...lately though, his presence there has become an "Enough already!" sort of thing)
Thus ends the early morning rant...now over to Bob with the weather...Bob?

Understandably so *unfortunately, missed that last two seasons due to scheduling conflicts...well, that and getting sucked into Invader Zim before Nickelodeon gave that the ax*Hell yes. Must love the wonder that WAS Farscape (is pretty sore about it getting canned).

Heh hehWhy's that a bad thing? One of those three friends I mentioned who stand up for me against the YaoiNazis didn't get her hands on FF7 until last year. First words out of her mouth: "So that's who the spikey haired freaks from Ergheiz are!"
Agreed. If it is true, Rowling's response seems perfectly understandable for one who would learn the characters they've spent (currently) 4 (soon to be 5) novels developing, are being ill-portrayed for the sake of some author's fantasy of Harry-on-Draco action. As much as I'm all for free speech, I almost hope the C&D letters are real. It's high time ONE creator out there put a legal stop to the fan rape of their creation (or if its a hoax, I praise whoever it was that had the cojones to intimidate these people).
As a rule though, what times I have seen rape used in a story, it's usually eitherLotR fic in general frightens me. Rape fic doesn't scare me if it's handled well, and by that I mean where the act isn't glorified and romanticized. I see that WAY too often, ESPECIALLY in slash fic. And the worst part is, it's mostly women writing the damn stuff! We above all should know that rape is by no means romantic! I swear, fics like that make me want to vomit or throw something.

Yes! Must hail ZIM, too! I'd have to say that was probably the STUPIDEST thing Nickelodeon did besides picking up Rocket Powered. And I think it's because they had no clue what they were getting into (if they had freaking READ Johnny the Homicidal Maniac, I doubt they would've asked Vasquez to write a cartoon). Sort of the same reason Disney canned Gargoyles way back when. But at least ZIM got a better write off. I try to pretend the third season of Gargoyles never happened >.>
Continuing the fanfic rant....
I'm also getting slightly sick of Legolas. I know he's a cult favorite because of the movies (which I've been duly impressed with), but come ON! There are other awesome characters in this monster trilogy besides him! I guess you could say I don't have a problem with the character (love that skateboarding on the shield stunt in TTT!), but with the idiot fans.

I'll have to admit that's true. But on the other hand, if the rape isn't really part of the plot or character development, then it can seem like option b, or just plain gratuitous and pointless (though I wonder if there's hardly a difference between the two).As a rule though, what times I have seen rape used in a story, it's usually either

I've said it elsewhere, people in charge of TV programming departments have no clue what their dealing with. Please don't remind me of the third season of GargoyleS. ;_; that sucked outside of the first ep of the season.BishounenStalker wrote:Must hail ZIM, too!
