Actually I found the ending of Evangelion (both TV and movie) quite uplifting. If you watlked away feeling sad, I think you missed the point and what happened at the ending altogether.
cant say i find the films ending uplifting, but the series was very uplifting, i even left the shelter off my home to dance in the sunlight (this act of hapiness was spoilt by terential rain)

Okay just about all my sad scenes have been taken, even the Pokemon ones..

Heres the only one I can think of, in Digimon 03 when Beelzemon was trying to rescue Jeri. He'd come to realise how wrong he'd been, he was literally giving his all to redeem himself for killing Jerri's Digimon and he even used Leomon's signature move to try and free Jerri.

But he couldn't do it, she just drew away from him when she realised that he wasn't Leomon. Just the combination of what a blow that was to both Beelzemon and Jerri made that a really sad scene for me.

One more, now that I'm thinking back over Digimon, is the end of the first series. That last episode just had a lot of goodbyes, whats not sad about goodbyes?

....

**Engar runs before he's attacked for using Digimon**

nowt wrong with digimon, better than pokemon any day....seems slightly more evil..if ya know what i mean, in pokemon no one dies, little creatures beat the living daylights out of eachother, but no one dies, but in digimon, theres lots of death, which in my book is good

<throws stone at engar>

still, this doesnt redeem you for using digimon, die sinner!!

I'd have to agree about the scene in Berzerk where Guts kills that guy's son.

Yes....everyone dying except the two characters I hated the most...THAT WAS REALLY UPLIFTING!! You people need to get over Eva. Creating flawed(IE Annoying) characters and filling a story with references to the Kabala is nothing impressive. The fact is, wiether the endings where supose to be happy or sad, getting to them was such an emotional rollercoaster that once you get you there you got nothing left you just feel completely empty. How you find that uplifting ill never know.

I don't think I'll go to into detail since your post (honestly) annoys me. I think you're really missing the point of Eva. All the characters didn't DIE, they are within the LCL and CAN come back if they wish it. Say all you want, but this is in the show and is blatantly said...no interpretations or whatever I'm making. The show itself is uplifting since it teaches us we can overcome and triumph over our problems and try to live with each other in harmony (regardless of AT fields and hurting each other).

I almost started crying with Chiyo-Chan at the Graduation at the end of Azumanga Daioh.
Truly touching, right in the middle of the song, she just starts thinking about how she's never going to see her friends again...
*gets teary eyed*

Some of the saddest moments in anime for me are:
When Wolfwood dies in Trigun.
When Belldandy gets a call saying she's going to have to leave forever.
Episode 24 of Cowboy Bebop when Ed and Faye leave.
Also in End of Eva when Mistuo died and a few other parts of that were kinda downers more then sad I guess.
The Inu-Yasha movie also had some some sad parts, like when Kagome has to go back to her time and doesn't think she can ever go back.
See you space cowboy...
Miroku is a king among amine characters
Aliens, are you a peaceful race.
While hell yes, we are barbequing aren't we not.

NECROPOST OF DOOM!

Before today, the last post on this topic was made on August 29, 2002. :D

Looking back at my first replies almost 8 months ago. I'd say some of those are still pretty touching, but they're all overshadowed by Saishuuheiki Kanojo's sad sad story.
