Just like my favourite anime moment, it would be the part near the ending of the first Pokémon episode. I think the first ones are good, but the episodes get terribly worse as it goes on. Now they have too many episodes. Anyways, that part where Ash tries to sacrifice himself, then Pikachu jumps and shocks everyone. I thought that was the most well done part in the entire series. Sniff! Too bad it was the first episode, they had nowhere to go but down.

saddest moment...

it was in Saber Marionette J when the marionette put Otaru in an escape pod and sends him back down to earth... another one was when Lime had to let her pal bunny go... that was touching even though i know omni's gonna say i wasn't that moved by it. bah...

That is strange, almost all the the anime series I've seen myself lately have pretty sad moments usually brought on by people dying too. Hmm, wonder why that is?

Anyways here's what I've seen lately, proceeded by a SPOILER WARNING:

End of 2nd season of Gensoumaden Saiyuki. Homura's group gets wiped out, their ideal for a new utopian world doesn't come to complete fruition. Chi Yan never gets to atone for all the guilt he has built up over Nataku. Yin while freeing a village from a soul-eating demon ends up killing all the villagers because killing the demon destroys their souls. Even the young boy in which he saw his murdered son and whom he had sworn to protect. Gojyo confront the visage of his mother who hates him and gave him the scars on his face. Sanzo comes to terms with his guardianship of Goku.

Cowboy Bebop Movie: Knockin' on Heaven's Door. The Vincent doesn't find out who he loves and what was his reason to live is until it's too late and he's already dying.

End of Evangelion, just about everybody dies. :D

Middle of Angel Links. A young pirate girl falls in love with Kosei, the only man to have ever treated her in a gentlemanly manner. She doesn't know how to express her love to Kosei, and then she is killed.

End of Angel Links. Leon Lau/Goryuu sacrifices himself for Meifong at the end. And then Meifong also dies afterward anyways because she has a limited life-span.

Middle of A.D. Police TV - To Protect and Serve. Jose rescues his family from being blown up by time-bombs, but gets killed himself instead.

End of A.D. Police TV - To Protect and Serve. Just as Hans and Satomi are about to escape Genom City, Hans begins to lose control of himself and asks his partner Kenji to kill him before he is completely gone.

Middle of Shin Getter Robo: Armageddon. The Shin Getter Robo Team tries to save a northern village, but they fail to keep all the young men who were defending the village from getting absorbed by the Invaders. They are forced to kill all of them including the brother of a little girl that Genki/Kei had befriended.

Gundress. The main character's forced to kill her old lover.

Season 2 of Magic Knights Rayearth. The whole season keeps flashing back to the time when the knights had to kill Princess Emeraude. It's just continuously sad overall what with Hikaru constantly fighting against her own heart, Eagle struggling to live the last moments of his life as a warrior. Hikaru loving (developing a crush?) on a man whose brother she killed. Typical Clamp sad story stuff. :)

X. All the characters except the main one die. What's with holding onto dead people's heads in this anime? Yeesh. Typical Clamp sad story stuff too. :)

Beginning of RG Veda. Ashura's forced to kill a monster that was really a young girl of an extinct clan who was just really lonely. Ashura's mother hates her and wants to kill her.

Silent Mobius. Just about all of the main characters have sad stories to tell. Kiddy doesn't feel like a real woman because she's a cyborg, her body having been shredded by a megadyne when she was a normal cop. Nami neglected her inner child and has not cried ever since she was young and her sister came back from the 'cleansing ritual' bloodied and half-dead. Yuki was an experimental psychic, forced to kill a fellow psychic from her 'same batch' and fell in love with a man that existed in the past and is now 30 years older than her. Rally has to fight against her own sister and the forces of the Moon denying her own blood and using the strong powers that the Lucifer Hawks themselves posses to fight against them. Katsumi constantly seeks to understand the legacy her father left behind for her even though she has never met him, the man who opened up the gateway through which the Lucifer Hawks came. She constantly struggles with why she was granted the power she has and is the central link in the struggle against the Lucifer Hawks. Her lover is killed by the Lucifer Hawks simply to increase her rage and hate in order to bring her over to the 'dark-side.'

Now as to which was the most sad... I can't really choose. They are all really really sad. :D

grave of the fire flies, the veryy begining, and the very end.

Nuff said.
