Eva on Toonami

They are showing two eps as part of Giant Robot week.

Only two eps, with those probably being the fight against Bardiel and the fight against the ribbon-armed Angel whose name escapes me, if I had to guess.

Myself, I think that people will be confused as all hell by what's going on if they only show two eps, and I know it won't be the first two, because those don't have much action, which they are aiming for. I also loathe the Eva dub, so this irks me.

Although, it may get people interested enough to go buy the series boxset...

Thoughts?

Oh, they are also showing selections of Robotech, Nadesico, and Dai-Guard. But I haven't seen those, so I have no opinion.

I think it's a poor idea to only show two episodes of Evangelion, since any audience they hook with it will be left in the lurch.

Plus, they're gonna have to cut something out of it. Betcha the OP sequence goes, for one.

I personally don't think Eva should be shown on Toonami... I don't even think it should be on Adult Swim. It's just the wrong kind of environment for a show like that.

Eva should be show on Bravo or IFC.

how bad do you think they are going to butcher it .. especially showing in a spot that has been the place of shows like the powerpuff girls and scooby doo? ... gah .. makes me angry.
...the problem I see a lot is that many good amv makers think they suck, and many bad amv makers think they're good.
I've seen it happen, man! I've SEEN IT!..

If I were them, I'd show the 8th and 9th episode. Those are fairly actionpacked, but don't really require the viewer to have seen much previous material. Then it should also need little to none censoring.

I dont think that Toonami watchers are ready for Eva. They are slowly building towards it but they just aren't ready for the mind raping. Its an even worse idea to show it from somewhere in the middle.

Traumatize little folks yeah!, I mean some of those kiddies will have an evangelion obssesion for about 2 weeks, after which they will realize that getting more evangelion episodes is beyond their reach and probably get depressed.

It might take quite awhile to get an audience ready for Evangelion.

Anyways, I also think it's a bad idea. There are some anime shows where showing two episodes from anywhere in the series is fine, and won't confuse you too much, but I don't really think Eva is one of them.

We'll have a nation of Shinjis on our hands:shock:

Well the UK was ready for Eva it seems as about a month ago Sci-Fi had just finished showing the series and End of Evangelion is premiering in the London Sci-Fi Film Festival this weekend.

Woo, Nadesico and Dai-guard! Yay for Robotech as well. Now if they would only show Zone of the Enders, Dolores i and Gasaraki the lineup would be perfect.
