So who's checked out the new Devil May Cry anime?
I'm curious to hear some of your thoughts and impressions now that 2 episodes have been released.
The animation and action sequences were excellent right from the get-go. Madhouse always does a good job and this was no exception. I also don't mind the story so far, though I think I'm going to wait a bit before I can say whether or not I really like it.
The only thing that stands out for me at the moment is that Dante is not as much of a smartass as he is in the video games (minus part 2). For example, he doesn't make as many one-liners as I've grown used to. Hopefully this will change providing they decide to dub the episodes in english. Supposedly, the english voiceover for dante in DMC3 & 4 has openly expressed--and even seemed eager-- to voice Dante for the anime if he was offered the role.
Anyways, it's nice seeing more of what an ordinary day in the life of the devil hunter is like. That's what the producers were trying to go for and I'd say they've done a passable job so far. If the animation and action stays consistent, I'll watch this one through till the end.

hm
I like the DMC anime.. but the action is nothing close to the quality of DMC3's so, I'm quite dispointed aswell. They are not allowed to forget everything that made the latest game considered such a must have is it is today. I've noticed the lack of clever one-liners aswell.
The timeline seems to be after the events of the third game.. long enough for Dante to become very indebted to Lady.
It's to early to tell if the anime is a good idea or not, if nothing else it does bring dept to the character us fans know and love..

I agree. Anyways, I just wanted to jump in to say that I think the show also takes place after the events of DMC1 as well (since Trish and the phantom were in the intro).Thyrius wrote:if nothing else it does bring dept to the character us fans know and love..
*hopes to see Trish in episode 3*

I hunted down the first episode and watched it on youtube. The fansubs weren't great, but will suffice until they are officially released here in the US. Overall, it was pretty good, the animation is great, and the storytelling is well done... I just felt cheated by some of the action scenes. I get it, she's a little girl and the fight is "restricted", but we could still see it. LOL. Not all the fights were that way, but it still feels sheap when it happens. But like I said, overall its a good show. I want to see more.
Heres the youtube link to the episode, btw:
