I find the only annoying part of the entire Dragon Ball series to be late Freeza and just the entire Cell saga. That is where the story sped up to an incredibly fast pace and did not allow time for clever extras as were seen throughout all of Dragon Ball and early Dragon Ball Z. You'll notice that at times there are week, month, or even several year gaps in the early Dragon Ball manga. This is what allowed for such intriguing side stories. In Dragon Ball Z the story pretty much keeps rolling except for the 1 year gap of Gokou's absence, the 3 year gap of the Androids and the 7 year gap of Gokou's death. There was plenty of room for interesting side stories, but by that time, the Freeza saga had lagged so far behind that the series could not take time to develop long side-stories, and when there were ("Garic Junior Returns") they lacked the same creativity as earlier diversions.
However, the Buu saga kept moving at a nice pace with no enormous lags or looping interruptions ("It's a trick!!! It's a trick!!!") and it was just terribly surprising to see what Toriyama could conjure up next.
I like GT very much actually. I think anyone that bashes GT is only following the few leaders who early on decried DBGT. GT begins as a DB clone, (even down to Gokou and friends rescuing a village from a villain who had no real power a la Oolong), which I found a bit repetative, but nostalgiac nevertheless. Then it settled into a nice mix of late DB early DBZ and didn't really budge from there. It always had an adventure/action feel to it. It was a truly wonderful ending to the series.
Of course all of the above problems were never in the manga. The manga was fast-paced, interesting and fresh all the way through.
Hmmmm....I wonder if anyone knows who I am. I bet Castor does.

fight "scenes"the people that made DBGT I think didn't make as good fight seens.
....so you're saying watching a gigantic True Super Saiya-jin Bebi fighting SSJ4 Son Gokou wasn't cool? The last time a REAL Giant Monkey battle had taken place was way back in the Saiya-jin Saga, and at that time the characters were essentially gnats compared to their later strengths. The speed and power demonstrated in that fight dwarf most Z battles and is something (gasp) original that was much needed.
